Darth Gerber...that is all.
seriously though that was a shoddy effort. All shots from the outside, no rebound chances(any one we had we blew entirely) therefore no 2nd chance opportunities. All that does is make a goalie's stat line look really good. The Stempniak goal that Theo let in was a killer. That depletes any momentum you had and kills your confidence. Can't blame him on the 2nd one though, nobody cleared the crease. Ovechkin may have helped, at least on the powerplay, but Toronto worked the hardest therefore they got the bounces and I think they win whether we have Ovie or not. When it rains it pours...expect a hungry Pittsburgh team to come in here on Sunday and rub some more dirt on our face.
what the f, caps! This is dreadful! And we can kiss first place in the EAST goodbye
I hate you more than ever Jeff Schultz.
I'm really getting sick of watching this team. I guess part of it is because we've been treated to winning so much, but still their performance is unacceptable.
It seems as if we have been lost since we beat Boston and I don't know why. Whatever happened to teams not wanting to play us at home?
I'm a bit frustrated right now with the team, **** I WANNA BREAK SOMETHING!
I just got back from the game. I had no idea that Ovechkin wasn't playing until about halfway through the first period and I was settled into my seat. He was nowhere to be found, sucks.
Our team has been playing really uninspiring hockey lately. Something needs to change and change in a hurry.
We did have something in the realm of 37 shots on goal. I'd say the last 10-15 minutes may have been uninspiring (except the final minute). Fleischmann looked like he came to play. Also, I don't know if anyone noticed (haven't read through the thread) but we only had 17 skaters out there. 6 defensemen (including Fedorov) and 11 forwards. the lines shifted quite a bit.
oh, and on a bright note, I picked up a poster of Ovechkin, Green, Semin, and Backstrom tonight. It has all of their signatures![]()

No Ovie explains PART of it, NOT all of it.
I just wanna win our division now (luckily Florida also lost).
i think Ovie just got hurt at real bad time. For him to go down at practice after two ass whoopin's, that was just throwing salt on top of our wounds. That probably had a small effect on the guys mentally. But, these things tend to be temporary around strong minded players like we have.
We are still a VERY good team, and we will bounce back. The games coming up will be tough. Pens, Nashville (we haven't fared particularly well against the West), Flyers, all of our division rivals, etc. But BB just needs to get these guys back to what they've been doing all year.
I say that struggling right now may be a positive thing if we get it turned around and carry the momentum with us into the playoffs. This doesn't seem like a team of guys who are just going to fold mentally.
So we've lost 3 in a row. Our current longest streak of the year is 4 I believe, which we've done twice. Let's just see what happens against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Is there a curse on Washington DC? Either mediocraty or 1st round exits. This team will still make the playoffs and will probably win the division, but what a bad time to go into the tank. They need to get back to "Outworking" the other team. When they outwork (mucking, cycling, etc) they can beat anyone. When they try to get too flashy, they lose. Very disappointed, but I'll stick with them like I have since 1982.
Redskins 2013 Opponents:
Home- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City, San Diego
Away- Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Denver, Oakland
Luckily our next game is at home vs. Pittsburgh![]()
