Wow that first one and the 5th one look so good! Nice work as always!

So, not sure where else to go with Camera questions.
Wife really wants a Canon Rebel T3i. I have been seeing them on ebay for $500 and was going to haggle with some and see if they'd sell for $400-$450
This will be her first dslr and this is for casual shooting. More than likely will be used for our baby around the house and occasionally outside/ vacations. Nothing serious.
A. Is it user friendly for a novice?
B. Is the 18-55 lens sufficient for what we'll be doing?
C. Is that a good Price?
Any other advice/suggestions would be great and appreciated. The last time I bought my wife a good camera (Bought a really nice sony for below $400), we disliked the shutter speed because we couldn't snap any good photos when everything needs to be perfectly still.

Oh and camera will also be for outdoor sports as he starts playing football/baseball/soccer.
Thanks SOUP for the sig!!
I took a lot of nice photos with that camera, you can see some by looking at my posts prior to the last page. I recently sold mine on cragislist for $600 with a better lens, the upgraded kit lens, 18-135mm IS and a extra battery.
It's definitely user friendly to learn on, I fully suggest it. The only issue you may have is it's not going to be super fast at sports like a 7D is or a 5d MarkIII, but those are much more expensive cameras, so that makes sense. The lens should be fine as well. However I'd suggest picking up a "nifty fifty" the Canon 50mm 1.8 $100 lens at some point.
Also, you can get the T2i a little cheaper and there isn't a big difference expect the non movable screen on the back, which is nice if you'd use it.

No problem. Your probably going to want some kind of zoom, for the kind of shooting you are going to be using it for. Getting it with a kit lens is a good idea. I'd take the T2i over the T3 any day. The t2i, t3i and t4i are good entry level DSLR cameras.
The 50mm is a really great lens, I still use it on my new 6D, but I'd wait and get it as a 2nd one down the line.
Here is a little comparison, the i model's are def better than non i's. http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-T3..._EOS_Rebel_T2i

Here are a couple from the other night that I took with my phone. I think one of these days I'd like to upgrade to a DSLR.

I started with a T2i and still use it occasionally. That or the newer T3i or T4i are great beginner cameras. Which one just depends on your budget. The T2i does not have the flip out screen which can be a nice thing to have.
As far as lenses go the kit lens is a good starting point. The 50 1.8 (nifty 50) that Sikbug recommended is a great choice for a second lens. It has very good image quality and is cheap, as far as lenses go. If you are going to get into taking pictures of your son in outdoor sports a longer zoom will be needed. The Cannon 55-250 (nifty 250) is a good starter lens for that.
With those three lenses you will be covered for almost anything you would want to do. Every shot in the two collections linked below was taken with the T2i and one of those 3 lenses.

I would definitely recommend the t2i or t3i over the t3. While the T3 is truly a starter dslr,it's not the best of build quality and it's pretty stripped down in features and such. Very nice image quality, but that's about it. Nikon has better options in the same category imho. The t2i,while aimed at the starter dslr market,is much more advanced camera. One reason why many a pro has one of these guys as either a back up or as a primary use for telephoto shots. T3i is essentially the t2i with a flip out lens. That could be the direction to go. NIfty 50 is a good idea for a lens for that every day around the house,(nice low light lens),and outside, fun family pics. The kit lens that comes with them,(usually),is a decent lens for every day use and probably won't lose too many shots with it,(the 18-55mm). I'm torn between the 50-250 and the 70-300 lenses. Both nice lenses with the 70-300 being more expensive, but could is a nice lens for that price. All just my 2 cents.
Few more from Cali.

Thank u everyone who responded and gave feedback.
I've been looking online and (maybe call me ignorant) I'm not seeing a significant difference in price for the T2i and the T3i. I think I'm goin to go with the T3i.
Thanks SOUP for the sig!!
Yep. That's a nice feature. Wouldn't mind having that one myself on occasion.
"Don't let the bastards grind you down". Love that one. Good way for me to prevent this is looking at this thread with all of you wonderful fellow photographers. Another way is working on mine. Few more from the trip to the coast.

We'll grind that axe, for a long time!
Great shots guys. Here are a few more from me. The first two are from the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen last September. The 3rd one is from the Goodwood Revival last September as well. September was a busy month.
