Yep. Longer exposure, setting the exposure value down low,and using a neutral density filter. In this case, there's big time Springtime runoff going on,so don't have to have too long of an exposure to get the effect. Faster the water is traveling, less time you have to leave the shutter open I have found. And use a tripod. That whole luck thing on this one as I had a longer exposure time going with the camera held up on its side.

More long exposure. With a twist. Going a little large with these.
First the twist. I got a little crazy with this one and overlaid a shot I took of the fireworks later that night onto the underlying photo.
But I think what makes it work is the underlying photo. Uncropped and unedited...

Mike getting artsy. I like them. That second one is way cool. Like the contrast between the crowd in the background listening and watching, and the kinetic energy of the guy working the board that the motion blur expresses. And of course, the tilt of the camera.

Thanks.
Oh, Ima get real artsy wit ya.Look at the four points of light in the overlay. Think eyes, mind, heart, body.
The primary photo was taken with the 10-24 with the lens a foot away from the board. The depth of field is amazing on that thing. Tripod this time of course. I also got some new shots of the fire dancer.
I've been trying to loosen up and get a little more creative in large part because you guys inspire me. I'm working on a website re-design that will be a little hipper as well.
I like it. Nicely done. And that inspiration works both ways Mike. I've been loosening up a bit myself in attempts to do things a bit different with my pics as well as branching out a bit on subject matter. When I spend time in the digital darkroom is when the artsy stuff really happens.
Now that is pretty dang cool.![]()
my folks are in alaska for a spell - taking lots of pics. hope to post a few of them sometime after the 4th.
I can please only one person each day - today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
