If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me. I got fixed about a year ago. My recovery took a bit longer than expected. As others have said, most people are fine after two or three days. My scrotum stayed black and sore for a good week or two. The pain was relatively minor but it was still upsetting to have to look at that every time I went to the bathroom.

But yeah, overall the experience was very positive. Much better than having my wife go in for surgery and much more convenient than worrying about birth control all the time or worrying about chemical hormone alterations.

Congratulations on your new daughter. I have no advice to give.. I'd like to get one myself, but my wife hedges every time I bring it up.

Yep, curious if the ones with complications had it done by a Urologist?

First of all, I completely understand how you feel. I hate going to the doctor's office and get woozy just seeing needles.

I signed up to get 'snipped', got all the way to the office, and when they called me, all the receptionist said she needed was my referral (that was the first I'd heard of that).

Well, I finally got to the day that I had to go in. Went to see Dr. Rock in Annapolis in his office. He was really good, explained the surgery, and made me feel relatively comfortable. He had an extensive music collection, so I asked to listen to 'In Through The Out Door' during my surgery. He gave me a couple locals, and 20 minutes later, I was done.

I laid on the couch for about a day and a half, slowly getting around. The procedure was done around noon on Friday. By Sunday afternoon, I was able to go to my daughter's soccer game.

Two weeks later, I went back, everything looked good, and that was that.

It has been over 3 years and no problems at all.

    Good Luck!!

It may only be a 20 minute thing, but can't they just put you out for it? I don't want to be awake while I'm getting a needle in the balls.

Hey USS Redskins, while I am a female, I know several men who have had it done and had no problems. It's a relatively simple procedure that doctors perform all the time. Of course there is always a small risk with any procedure, but it's a minute risk with this pretty quick in and out procedure.

True story, I personally know a physician who performed his own vasectomy on his lunch break, lol. He gave himself some local anesthesia, snipped one tube, took a break and ate sandwhich, then snipped the other tube and whaalaa. He's bat**** crazy, but that's beside the point. The point being that's the most hilarious story I've ever heard

I swear to God if my husband even tries to says something like this I will kick him so hard in the balls he wouldn't ever have to worry about his fertility again.

Alrighty now...back to rational mode: the sterilization procedure for women is a much more invasive surgery than that for men.

My old man started dating a chic close to my age and had this done. He asked me to pick him up after surgury and was high as a kite when I picked him up. Other then a couple days of pain he was fine after it. Good luck brother, personally if she can't have any more kids due to scar tissue if your faithful to her why the hell would you get this done? What's the point? If your a tom cat messing around then I completely understand wanting this to get done. But considering I don't know you or judge you, if she can't have any babies then you doing that seems like overkill to me and makes you look guilty
