Default Yahoo: The End Is Coming in '2012'? (great new movie trailer)

    http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/2012...ich.html#watch

I know there have been threads on this general topic, but this is for the new article/trailer on Yahoo and the page has good links. I love me disaster movies. This thing looks awwwwesome. Anyone got any special plans for the next 3 years?

Suspend critical thinking field! Go to course heading of reflexive response 101 at full bias!
    Now!'Enter' at will!"

It's directed by the same dude who made Day After Tomorrow and I thought that movie sucked. This though looks pretty intense so yes I will go watch it because I love me some apocalypse

He did Independence Day too, which was dumb, but a lot of fun IMO. And I like John Cusack even.

Yeah I forgot to add that in there. So we have good (Independence Day), bad (Day After Tomorrow). Keeping with that trend he's due for a good one. So 2012 GOOD!

    N/M, TJ, you are stupid.

I made a point in the OP of saying I knew there had been other threads on this but this thread was for the Yahoo link that had other info that was a specifically different article. We have always allowed other articles on the same topic to make a new thread at moderator discretion, and I so discrete now.

I loved Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow, but I'm a sucker for watching the Earth get blowned up.

DAT generally sucked, but the SE in this one looks pretty cool. I want to see those "ships." Armageddon/Apocalypse themes in Sci-Fi or movies have been a fave of mine since I was a kid. Used to fantasize about them and surviving them.

Hmm. Okay. I'll keep this in mind.

As for the trailer.. it's beautiful, isn't it? Only problem is that the trailer for The Day After Tomorrow was beautiful and when the earth wasn't being destroyed in that movie, the rest of the plot was boring.

One impression I get here, though, is that Emmerich might really finish the job and kill everyone on earth. You see the ships the government built caught in the tidal wave. Besides the main characters, I don't think anyone else has a chance to survive. I sure hope so. An apocalyptic movie is no fun if there are survivors. Epic manslaughter of 6 Billion people=WIN.

Armageddon was one of my favorite movies. It's always fun to show someone that movie and watch them break down like a baby at the end.

I couldn't help but notice the absence of any of the Biblical elements of the apocalypse. Where are the four horsemen, the plagues, etc? And besides, didn't God say he would never drown the Earth again after Noah built the ark? I also couldn't help but notice the fracture in the roof of the Sistine Chapel, separating God and man (Adam), almost in a mocking way. That's what you get when you have scientologists running around Tinsel Town. But hey, they all get their own planets anyhow so what do they care about Earth. Okay, rant over.

Interesting take on the end of the world by Hollywood, nonetheless.

I also agree that Day After Tomorrow was terrible.

Well, going into full geek mode here, the design of ship looked intruiging, as though it midght ride within the kind of super-massive wave that was carrying the JFK inland. What I want to see if how any truly apocalyptic event doesn't involve the earth's core/magma and surface/tectonic paltes fracturing/fissuring/destructing past the point of any kind of structural sustainability that would support life.

No but really i'm with you. As a little kid i've always found these sci-fi apocalypse type situations interesting and the special effects and trailer just look awesome. I just hope the rest of the plot when everything isn't getting destroyed boring.
