I will use it, but not till next year. According to reports, there are some 211,000+ claims pending and only 3 have been paid. I will let the VA work the kinks out first before I try it.

speaking of "kinks"... One of the reasons I was wondering the numbers as to how many people "here" that would be using it actually know all the details as to rather or not they are aware that if they want to give it to their child then they need to do 4 years AFTER they apply for the transfer of benefits to their kid...

i think this is outrageous since they advertised it being so easy to give your children your benefits...

Verdict is still out. It can come as pros and cons to others you know. Look at it that way.

I'm waiting until more info comes out on it. I was told that when this was signed into law that the logistics hadn't been worked out yet and no one knows where the money is going to come from to fund it. Furthermore, no one at the education office has been able to tell me the specifics on how it can be used for my children. I mean, my oldest child is 5, how much good does it actually do me if I have to use it in four years?

I used my GI BIll in 04/05. But I was in the service in the mid/late 90's. I had no issues, paid on time and got my full benefits. Is something going on with just the people who signed up after 9/11?

If you served 36 months after 9/11/01, you will qualify for (if you attend on campus class at least 6 credit hours per semester):

    • 100% tuition payment (made directly to your school) up to the most expensive public university's tuition level
    • $1000/year in book stipend
    • $1000/year in miscellaneous stipend
    • E-6 with dependent BAH to offset lost income from attending school (supposed to replace your salary, won't work in metro areas)
VA is having "issues" processing the claims.
