Default Thank you ES (share the memories)

Thank you for reminding me that being a real fan has nothing to do with owners. It has nothing to do with W-L records. Hell, it has nothing to do with coaches or individual players. It's a cliche', but Redskins Nation is an institution. Either you get it, or you don't.

Memories are ever lasting, and we all have them. One of my best memories ever was the Skins-Broncos SuperBowl. 70 people strong went to my great uncle's house to watch the game. I was 10, but already a rabid fan. 70+ in a house rooting for the 'skins. 3 floors of TV's with people on each sitting there watching the game. I hate to admit this (my family loves Sonny, but hated Theisman), but they insisted on watching the LT hit on Theisman prior to the SB. Sorry, still sticks in my mind....

But I digress; we go down 0-10 in the blink of an eye. My father (RIP) told me not to worry, Joe Gibbs will find a way to win this game....Then, the 2nd quarter... Imagine if I had gave up and sworn off the team?

Well, despite this decade-long "quarter" of mediocrity, it will come to an end one day. I will not join the ranks of those that dismiss the fans and players that came before me. The "second quarter" WILL come. Just hold on, because it will feel so much better once it's here and you know you weren't one of the FEW that quit on this team.

I will continue to criticize this team when I believe it is warranted, but I will NEVER join the ranks of those that even entertain the thought of finding a new team.

EDIT: Sorry, I rambled. Share the memories ES'ers.

Nice to see a positive fan thread on here every once and a while. Cheers to that.

Toaster Douche Oven's thread was a phail. Acting like a bandwagoner fan and then plagarizing off of me regarding my attitude to the Broncos. Yeah, I figured something was up after that...then mods brought in the pwnage.

I've only been a fan since 2004, so i don't have any memories of that magnitude

My best memory was probably my 1st live game, week 17 2004 vs the Vikings. My favorite player was Sean Taylor, and watching him keep Randy Moss in check (other than the 1 TD) and make the goalline stop at the 1 (i had seats in that endzone so it was right in front of me). I'll remember that game for the rest of my life, and couldn't be happier that i shared it with my dad

Yeh, I been with them since 63. Which is longer than any of the "Mrs. Jumbos" have made it (though one lasted 15 seasons) .

I will leave ES someday, I will criticize and applaud any aspect of the team at will and by my judgment as to what's reasonable, accurate, and fairly merited in either praise or dissection, and I will swear, curse, and cheer at will, but also within my own standards (I detest idiocy and retarded sefl-indulgence, pig-ignorant petulance, and just being a stupid dick about the team in repetitive gratuitous fashion).

We have basically sucked overall, more often than not, for many years, but I would cease caring about football entirely before taking for another team as "replacement" for the Redskins.

Well, do you want to be there when they win it again, or not? That's your call. But the intent before my ramble was about memories. You have to have something, even if it's not a Super Bowl.

Mine would be every Sunday just watching the Skins play w/ my dad and grandpa (RIP). The time spent together doing something that we all had in common (watching and loving the Redskins) was very special to me.

I was at that game! Was my 3rd or 4th live Redskins game and I loved seeing Moss walk into the locker room early

For rizzeal though, as weird as it sounds the Redskins have actually brought/kept my family closer together over the years, whether we're going to games, taking a family vacation to Canton, or just sitting at home watching on TV (unfortunately usually they play terribly when we do this - see: vs Patriots a couple years ago). I'm very thankful for that.

I remember my first Skins game -- I was 9 years old, wearing the Mark Rypien jersey I got for Christmas the day before, sitting in the second-to-last row at RFK in that one little part where the stadium goes an extra 5 or 10 rows higher (behind home plate), for the last game of the 1992 season against the Raiders. We lost in the final two minutes by one point, 21-20, as the Raiders drove down the field, tied the game with a TD, and then won it with the extra point. It was the greatest day of my life up until those last two minutes. But walking from the Metro to the stadium with my dad for the first time, surrounded by swarms of Skins fans chanting and singing, will always be my fondest memory of the Skins.

hey guys im kind of a youngster only 19 but ever since i could remember when i was about 12 and really caught on to players names and who they were in not only the nfl but college to i remember one player. on saturdays i would watch two teams notre dame and miami. on miami one player especially caught my attention that was number 26. i remember it like it was just yesterday in 2004 draft day and when the redskins pick came and everyone said it was going to be kellen winslow i sat on my couch crossing my fingers hoping for number 26. the pick was in and the commisioner read the card and with the 5th pick in the 2004 nfl draft the washington redskins select sean taylor safety miami. it couldnt be true the player i grew to love and admire was now on my favorite team. the college kid i looked up to and wanted to be like so bad was now a skin. every week id watch highlights or the games when they were on tv. when playing pick up games with my friends id make a tackle and yell out his name i wud jump around and wave my arms in the air trying to be just like him. ill never forget any of seans games but on stands out the most. it was late sunday and i was at home with my mom and sister who are both cowboy fans. i was always hearing trash from them when they beat us and the game looked like it was going that way again. the cowboys lined up for the game winning fg. ITS BLOCKED troy vincent blocked the kick. SEAN TAYLOR HAS THE BALL HES ACROSS THE 35 ACROSS MID FIELD AND FINALLY DRAGGED DOWN. AND THERES A PENALTY FACE MASK 15 YARDS. well as everyone knows we won that game much in part to seans heroic run after the blocked fg. I watched the kick split the up rights and my face lit up like a christman tree i ran outside my house running up and down the streets waving my sean taylor jersey. i went to school the next day bragging about how great he was like everytime football came up. Sean touched my life in ways i could never explain and i wud never admit this to normal people cause they wud think im crazy but i hope all you skins fans can see that im just a kid whos role model is now nothing more then a memory and a youtube video. RIP SEAN i love you man and will always remember you

My faniliness grew up in the Norval days. Now, I missed a couple years because I was unaware that FOX was the station to go to instead of wjla. I do remember that Ferotte game and Trent Green stepping in. Those were the days where my fandom took root. Norval's TV show was entertaining to me...lol
