MTH- I think a negotiated upgrade probably fits best. The TO has definitely acknowledged that they have more flexibility to award better seats in response to "win back offers. After you are in the system and they have collected your money they hold all of the leverage. I wish I could take the credit and say that I planned this whole thing out. To be completely honest I did not renew my tickets and later had second thoughts. I sent the TO an email and they advised that I was eligble for a "win back offer" and to call to see what they had available.

I got the no upgrade e-mail today as well. I was already in Row 2 so I wasn't expecting to move, but I was still keeping my fingers crossed. ^_^ Expecting a nice bump for my Clubs though.

    Good answer, thank-you.

I think it's kind of fascinating - all the season ticket holders -and there were a lot of them - who were adamant that they would not renew. Did ANY of them not renew in the end?

    Doesn't look like it.

So - credit the TO for signing everybody up. They did a helluva job, even if they did have to cheat a little...

None of us know exactly how this automated upgrade system worked; how much was software driven vs policy driven.

But I think we saw three waves of information for upper level STHs. Those of us who were upgraded to more expensive seats were notified first via our online accounts, letters and email. Clearly, the TO had to line up payment from us. Next we heard from people who got upgraded to same price seats. They found their upgrades online or by email. We are now hearing from people in this thread saying they are getting emails stating they did not receive an automatic upgrade.

To me, that is a logical process to notify people.

To me, the most important part of this whole process is that it did seem to be done in a more fair manner than past years. The TO, for the most part, stuck to their guns about how the upgrades would proceed. Those who delayed paying and eventually decided to buy season tickets again got their offers after those who paid on time. Some got very good upgrades nevertheless. Sometimes it is the luck of what is available for whatever reason.

I think, all in all, this off season was a huge improvement over past years. The TO has some tweaking to do but it was an excellent first step IMHO.

I didn't renew. I wonder what would have happened if I had sent an email like Dondrae. Maybe I'll try next year.

I was one of the folks who said he wasn't going to renew in March. I pulled the trigger late, but I pulled it nonetheless. It's going to be different this time around, right....?

By the way, what is the "OP Dondrae"?

I should have put a comma in there. OP is opening post.

I didn't renew...wound up sticking to my guns and letting the tickets go. Of course, my decision was easier knowing I have a bunch of friends with tickets.

I def agree with that. There were a lot of pissed off people at this time last year, especially when the hit or miss upgrade call ins to the TO started happening on a daily basis. The ST thread is a much happier place this time around.

We still have more than a month for upgrades, changes, and improvements. I'll bet we read of a few more lure back stories and parking upgrades.

Regardless, the TO did what they said they were going to do for the most part.

BTW - I received the "we were not able to upgrade your account for the 2010 season" e-mail for a waitlist account that does not have tickets. When I called the TO, it sounded like the system just sent out a blanket e-mail to all accounts that had not received upgrade e-mails. Logical...

I have no doubt that there may be a few "upgrades, changes, improvements" as you note. With 65,000+ GA tickets, there is almost always likely to be a small number of open seats...people die...people move to club seats, people just turn in their tickets, etc. The TO probably keeps a small cache of seats for special guests (color guard, halftime guests, etc. not to mention the tickets set aside for vistiting team players and staff, and the media)

I will not be surprised when I make my call to the TO in September on behalf of Chipwich (dang....there I go name dropping again.) that there may be seats available. But I am going to press them on how many, where and why they are available. I want to know whether they have a handful or thousands of seats available as some on this board have alleged. We'll see if I can get some straight answers or not.

My guess is that there are 2010 lower level seats waiting for you if you call tomorrow...

I would hope that Hieverybody will attempt negotiations just to see what they have to offer. Even if he has no intent of renewing.

However, I also understand that such activity would be deemed a total waste of time to those less interested than me.

Haha that would be interesting. I'm actually very lucky that I chose not to renew because I will be out of the country for the first five weeks or so of the season. I could call just to see what they say, but I might want to wait until next year when I should be in town the whole season. I completely understand your fascination with the process. It's why I've been keeping track of this thread even though I'm not a season ticket holder anymore.
