Do you know if this is going to strictly adhere to the books? I actually wouldn't mind if it doesn't...I don't want certain things/people to die.

Fantastic! Excellent book series and there are few production companies that I would trust to make it more than HBO

Each season is supposed to encompass one book in the series. And people that died in the series NEED to die...........even our favorite characters (the Red Wedding killed me).

yeah.. sometimes you HAVE to deviate from the book (for logistical reasons) ... but doing so to preserve your favorite characters is a REALLY BAD REASON!!

Although I hear that the movie version of the bible really kicked ass---- where Jesus jumps off the cross right after the soldiers tacked up the I.N.R.I. sign and single-handedly wipes out an entire Roman legion armed only with his sword of truth and shield of thorns

Dude, EVERY character dies or gets horrible crippled. As soon as you start warming up to one character...say goodbye.

    Red Wedding. FTW!
...and I always wondered 'why can't he stay dead?' It doesn't change any good thing that he said. What matters is his life and not how he died. Why can't he just be a nice Jewish guy? - Tommy Womack

Kinda old news, since I found out about this a couple of weeks ago.

(Warning: Borderline NSFW picture of Lena Headly in link.)
    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44136

The plan is to adapt one novel each season, starting with 1996’s “A Game of Thrones.”

“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Lena Headey will play the duplicitous Cersei Lannister, twin sister of Jaime Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Virtuality”), with whom she indulges an incestuous relationship that spans decades. Along the way she marries the hard-drinking King Robert Baratheon, played by Mark Addy (“Still Standing”).

Also cast in the project are Sean Bean (“Crusoe”) as Ned Stark, Kit Harrington as Jon Snow, Jack Gleeson (“Batman Begins”) as Joffrey Baratheon, Harry Lloyd (“Robin Hood”) as Viserys Targaryen, Jennifer Ehle (“Possession”) as Catelyn Stark, Iain Glen ("Resident Evil: Extinction") as Ser Jorah Mormont, Tamzin Merchant (2005's "Pride and Prejudice") as Daenerys, Richard Madden (the BBC's "Hope Springs") as Robb Stark, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Alfie Allen ("The Other Boleyn Girl") as Theon.

“The Visitor” director Tom McCarthy is reuniting with his “Station Agent” star, Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister), for the project. Screenwriter David Benioff ("The 25th Hour," "Troy," "Stay," "The Kite Runner," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine") is scripting.
