There are a lot of things to be cynical about. But believe it or not, there are people who do things because they think it's the right thing to do regardless of if they pass up the opportunity to make more money.

A very common motivator is being a good role model for your children.

Showing your kids what is right is one of your main jobs as a parent. He's got a roof over their heads. He's got them fed. Now he needs to show them what is important.

250k to a multi-millionaire isn't much if he manages his money well.

It's may be a lot to you or me, but to him it might be a small price to teach his kids a very important lesson that they will be able to pass on to their kids.

Shocked that anyone thought this move was anything but noble and admirable. Good for Ty Warren for doing this.

Agreed. To us, passing up $250K is crazy, but we don't make anything close to the amount of money that Warren makes.

I would believe he has invested and saved his money wisely enough to do this move, and that this will speak volumes to his kids. Essentially, them seeing their Dad putting his education first will likely leave a lasting impression on them, and reinforce the message of how important education is.

Well done Ty. You're a great Dad.

Again don't get it as to why he has to chose between the bonus and school. Why can't he do both and do them rite now? U think the school won't adjust the schedule to meet his needs or time? Not sure why this has to one or the other and not both.

He's taking 5 classes this semester. The school isn't going to adjust themselves to accommodate him. Plus, realistically Ty can't really effectively work on his classes in Texas and hop on a plane back to New England. That's exhausting, and wouldn't be worth the effort.

As the article stated, Warren has never missed these things before and he's been a very good player for awhile for the Patriots. So long as it doesn't keep from from TC (which it won't) why shouldn't the man do this?
