I don't know... I think we have better options at nickelback in Tryon and Barnes. We could possibly use him as a punt returner but I'm not sure how much of that he's done in the last few years.

    46 Tackles
    1 Sack
    2 FF
(That is better than what we have right?)

EDIT: I mean he is better than Fred Smoot, because clearly that is who he would be replacing...

Stats are sort of irrelevant to cbs unless a guy routinely gets a bunch of picks each year.

Someone could rack up a lot of tackles because he's always getting picked on.
Q: Are you surprised by the lack of production by the back-ups on the offensive line?

Vinny Cerrato: "Are you talking about all the sacks and stuff?"

How old old is he? He has to be in his mid to late 30s by now. I'd pass.

Do you think we will start seeing those posts about "We need more playas from Da U" again?

True, he did ok last year, I think he is better than Smoot and Tryon. He wouldn't be our starter he would be used the same as Smoot. Smoot was getting burned last year as well so IDK?

Didn't Allen bring him into Tampa while he was there?

Regardless, he would add depth and competition in the secondary.

Looks like he will be turning 30 this year. Not sure I want him playing a ton of snaps regardless.
I really do. like I’m in a big barrel full of snakes and I just can’t get out. I can’t explain it really.

I don't think anyone should buy into this as we're signing Buchanon and handing him the nickel spot he is probably being brought in to compete, if we sign him.

Our coaches don't have a lot of tape on Tryon or Barnes and weren't part of drafting either so they want to make sure we have depth at that position. Like pass rushers and runningbacks, you can never have enough good corners.

He also adds a little value and competition to the PR spot. He only returned 4 last season but averaged 8.5 yards. Not great by any means but better than what we're use to, and since it's the Lions I have to assume we can block better than they do.

I wouldn't consider him a lock to make the roster unless we for some reason throw a lot of money at him. Probably more of just insurance incase Tryon or Barnes don't show well in camp. Also have to consider that Smoot was released and Westbrook probably won't be with us as just a STer.

If it came down to starting one of these guys, I'd probably go with Smoot or Tryon well before I considered Buchanon. There's a reason this guy has never caught on anywhere in his nine NFL seasons. He's a very mediocre player.
