Default 'Pastor' Rick Warren's Global P.E.A.C.E Plan - BEWARE!

It's 47 pages long, but it's an EXCELLENT expose! This SCREAMS Fascism.

    http://www.moriel.org/articles/disce...jan19_2006.pdf

In promoting his Plan, Warren is redefining the mission of the church. His idea is that we are to wipe out world problems and make the world a better place to live in before Christ returns. His program screams of Dominionist Theology
which teaches that Christ can't return until the
Church takes over the earth. And his billion man army reminds me of another two other “army” movements in the name of Jesus: The Army of Joel and the Manifest Sons of God who promote the false teaching in which they think the Lord has given them a mandate to take over the earth for Jesus so that he can return.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

FYI - do an internet search on Dominionism - it's another form of COMMUNISM.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

In a well intentioned way, he's advocating the destruction of the world. That works for christians, not so much for anyone else, assuming his theory is correct. It'd be great though if we could fix everything minus the apocalypse.

I've been reading a lot about Warren lately, and he's got a lot of conservatives and evangelicals upset over it. I don't care about the guy all that much, but I know my own pastor is influenced by him, and it drives me nuts when he quotes verses out of like 5 or 6 different versions of the bible during the sermon. (Sometimes ones we'd call a paraphrase) I mean it absolutely drives me bonkers.

Seems Calvinism is making a comeback too. Very interesting but long article. When's the next witch burning? Religion really freaks me out.

Welcome to the austere – and increasingly embraced – message of Calvinism. Five centuries ago, John Calvin's teachings reconceived Christianity; midwifed Western ideas about capitalism, democracy, and religious liberty; and nursed the Puritan values that later cast the character of America.

Today, his theology is making a surprising comeback, challenging the me-centered prosperity gospel of much of modern evangelicalism with a God-first immersion in Scripture. In an age of materialism and made-to-order religion, Calvinism's unmalleable doctrines and view of God as an all-powerful potentate who decides everything is winning over many Christians – especially the young.

Twenty-something followers in the Presbyterian, Anglican, and independent evangelical churches are rallying around Calvinist, or Reformed, teaching. In the Southern Baptist Convention, America's largest Protestant body, at least 10 percent of its pastors identify as Calvinist, while more than one-third of recent seminary graduates do.

New Calvinism draws legions to the sermons of preachers like John Piper of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Here at CHBC, the pews and even rooms in the basement are filled each Sunday, mostly with young professionals. Since senior pastor Mark Dever brought Calvinist preaching here 16 years ago, the church has grown sevenfold. Today it is bursting at the stained-glass windows.

You'd be surprised at the rise of both Supersessionism and Social Justice Christianity in the last 10 or so years.

I think the reason Calvinism is on the rise is because a lot of people are suddenly going back and wanting real answers to their questions about God, and so much of what Calvinists believe has been codified in the Westminster confessions, catechisms etc. It sure beats some of that name it and claim it crap they've been peddling on TV for a while.

Whoa there fella. I'm no defender of Rick Warren, I don't care for his work, I think he takes things out of context too much, but you are stepping over the line and/or have no idea. In it for the money? You do know that he stopped collecting salary and started putting money back into the church from his book sales? Is that in it for the money?

I dare say you are the one who sounds like an ignorant fool here.

Nothing wrong with Calvinism. In fact I'd say lots of things are right with Calvinism.

And we don't burn witches anymore.

Calvinism stresses the sovereignty and supremacy of God in all things instead of focusing as much on ourselves. Charles Spurgeon wrote a good piece on the defense of Calvinism.

John Piper is also another great Calvinist preacher.

Not at all. Social Justice has been present in the Catholic church for a long time meaning that most Christians on the planet fall under that category. Christianity can not exist without concepts of social justice, the two go hand in hand.

I would never tell you different and have every respect for your opinion. The "freaks me out" is sometimes a bad thing but far more often a really good thing. I know how much religion helps some people having witnessed it first hard and, while a person can share my lack of understanding personally, in the big equation it's still for good IMO.
