Tim Tebow watches Donovan McNabb practice
The Redskins made a couple of players available to reporters today. As they answered questions, we could see some offensive players practicing on the fields behind us. Included in the bunch was quarterback Donovan McNabb, wearing burgundy shorts and throwing to receivers. More on that in a bit.

As the group finished practicing and exited the field, there was one figure in street clothes. As he stepped closer, the crewcut became more visible and we could make out that it was Tim Tebow. So during his visit to Redskins Park today, Tebow watched McNabb and some of the receivers run routes.

As Washington players headed to the locker room, Tebow stepped into the backseat of a Suburban and zipped around to the front of Redskins Park.

Coach Mike Shanahan has spoken glowingly of Tebow, which would seem to eliminate him from draft consideration. Well, that and the team's lack of a second-round pick. We can tell you this: there are some in the organization who do think highly of Tebow and he is considered a legit prospect.

If Tebow is around in Rd. 2 and we manage to pick up a 2nd rounder via a trade down or trading of Haynesworth, I wouldn't mind taking Tebow. This would be a great situation for him to spend a few years behind McNabb learning from a couple of the best QB coaches in the NFL.

    Uhhhhhh, what?

I've been saying in numerous threads that we ought to find a way to get Tebow and tutor him under McNabb. We just need to trade Haynesworth/Landry/Moss/anyone to get an extra pick and draft him.

    Thanks Soup!

Trade down to get two picks in round 1 or a high second. Draft best OL available with the first pick, then take Tebow with the second. Do this if we cannot get a good pick for AH. We'll be lucky to get a 4th for JC.

Why in the world do we need another TE on the roster? He is not an NFL QB, regardless of changing his throwing motion. He's a no talent ass clown.

Why waste a pick on a QB that will be a back-up at best when we have oline to address along with RB.

Totally agree with you. I really think Tebow's era has come and gone. He's a throw back to the days of Sammy Baugh.

Now that we have McNabb, IMO acquiring Tebow has become a much more attractive option. The way McNabb played when he was younger (aka more running) is the style Tebow should emulate to have success in the NFL. I'd be excited to see what Tebow could become after tutoring under McNabb for a few years.

He played for the Florida Gators, that's enough. Name one successful FU QB? You can't, on to next topic.

Yes, the most decorated college football player of all time is a "no talent ass clown."

Regardless of changing his throwing motion? It sounds like you just don't like him. What else is there to do? He's doing everything he needs to. The scouts are impressed with the vast amount of progress he made with his mechanics in only 6 weeks. His motion is getting extremely close to being NFL ready. I see as much potential if not more than any other QB in the class, and the same goes with recent classes.

    Thanks Soup!

There is no way in the world that you even hinted that Tebow is a young McNabb

Tebow ran over people because of his size in college. His blazing 4.73 40 speed trying to run into 300 lb linemen will not work in the NFL and he's not fast enough to run to the edges because the 4.5 40 yd dash LBs will tear him apart.

He was a gimmick QB in college, nothing more, nothing less.

I'm an FSU fan, so yes I don't like the guy. Feelings aside, I personally don't think he will be successful at QB. Other than plow over college players, most that probably wont get drafted, he's not proven to me that he is anything special at the position. He did a real great job when Bama rolled his "almighty" ass didn't he?

IF tebow is allowed to sit for 3 years and learn ONE system, he would be a solid QB.
But, I wonder if that work ethic will follow him into the NFL. Now that we have McNabb taking a shot with Tebow in the second round would be an interesting move.

Of course the redskins would need to pick up a second round pick but I'm just speculating.

Tebow has this mechanical throwing motion now. Where he sort of pauses at the apex of his throw.
