Default blog.redskins.com: Sad News From ExtremeSkins

    http://blog.redskins.com/2010/04/12/...m-extremeskins

Say what you will about the folks over at ExtremeSkins, the Official Message Board of the Washington Redskins -- that they're fanatical, that they're overly optimistic, that they're tough to please, that they're excellent cooks, whatever -- but there are two facts about them that are indisputable:

    1) They are dedicated, enthusiastic fans of the team.

    2) They are fiercely loyal -- to the team, and to each other.

It's that last loyalty -- to one another -- that's on display now, albeit for sad reasons: longtime ES member and curator of the board's Breaking News section Bubba9497 passed away.

    ...

While this is immensely sad, it has also prompted a warm-hearted and authentic outpouring of sympathy in the ExtremeSkins community, in the form of a condolences thread that currently stretches to 30 pages. And all shouting about Jason Campbell's suitability as a QB or potential trade locations for Albert Haynesworth has been stowed in favor of what's really important.

My sympathies go out to Bubba9497's family, and all his extended family at ExtremeSkins.

Note: Matt says something will be mentioned tonight on Redskins Nation as well. (Comcast SportsNet, 6 PM and 10:30 PM)

Its crazy to see all the outpouring for someone most of us didn't even know. Just shows how close of a group we have on here.

Depends on how you define "know", I guess.

Yes, we are a close group.

I saw Art's piece on the Redskins site. These are so great gestures.

Terl has always been a friend to Extremeskins... both the board and the tailgate. He has helped us in a lot of ways that many here don't know about.

He is also one of the true voices of reason out of Redskins Park.

I was just looking for this thread... I remembered seeing this earlier. I'm in class right now, so I can't watch it. It's great that they're honoring bubba. Could you let me know what they say?

bubba absolutely ran through the veins and bloodstream of Extremeskins...he was everywhere. It was impossible to be a member here and not have your experience here enriched by bubba's presence and posts in one way or another. Not just through his posts and viewpoints and optimism, but through his incredible, tireless effort to bring every bit and scrap of Redskins news, articles and information to Extremeskins.

I can tell you it'll be on again at 10:30 PM, and the part talking about Bubba will be on at 10:50 PM.

Kudos to Matt for making that happen.

Actually, Bubba's passing had me feeling like when Sean Taylor passed away. Two people that I had never met in real life, but two people who really affected me by their passing. Honestly, they are the only two that were like that.

RIP bubba...very sad. He will surely be missed. We've had some cool chats over the past few years and it's an awesome gesture to all who mentioned him and ES. My prayers go out to his family and friends and all ES members who had the chance to read some of his great posts and feel the passion he had for this team and its diehard fans. You'll be missed bubba. Thanks for posting MTH, this is the first I've heard about this. (tears) man....RIP bubba
