My daughter took up the violon earlier this year with her school's orchestra. The music teacher was awesome and allowed her to use a school violin for the entire year. We really liked the idea because it allowed her to get a feel for the instrument before we had to lay out any cash.
Fast forward to today, it was her last day of school and the violin she was using is no longer available to her but she'd really like to keep practicing over the summer. So now we are looking at buying a violin outright. I have looked all over (craigslist, ebay, local papers) and there seems to be a very wide range of prices.
She must have a 4/4 (full size) violin, no color, no electronics. We'd like to have a case, extra bow and maybe a tuner.
Anyone know where to get a decent beginner violin without me needing to be picked up off the floor from sticker shock?!?
as always, TIA!
