The Redskins: Straight outta the WOOM!
Weather today is absolutely perfect for outdoor running. Almost no humidity, it's in the low 80's/high 70's.
Last night stepped it up and ran two miles. Will stay at 2 mi for the next week or so, them I will move the run up to 2.5 mi. I am am starting to like running, what the hell is wrong with me?
I did an easy 2.5 miles this morning. I want to get back into running in the morning again. At one point I was up to 5 miles a day before work, but that was years ago.
Weather was absolutely gorgeous yesterday! Went 2 miles on the same track as Monday night. Don't feel sore at all today, but am pretty tired.
I picked it up again last week, of course I'd pick the most oppresive heat to start running again. Anyway, I had dog issues on this run. First, I passed a guy with three small dogs (a Yorkie and two similar sized) who he was wlking without leashes. Of course, they turned and ran after me, barking and yapping. They literally would not stop following me, so I had to stop and wait for the guy to come get them. If they had been bigger, at least it might have helped me run faster.
Anyway, later on there was a girl, maybe 12/13, walking a golden lab that decided to lunge at me. Playfully, but still...anyway, it smacked it's nose into my wrist and caused me to drop my timer, which of course landed on the reset button.
Did 6.5 miles easy with my dear wife in the great weather yesterday evening on the W&OD Trail. She couldn't keep going at my glacial pace so she sped off on the second half. But at 115 she's carrying a little less than I am.
181 miles logged for June. A monthly record by a decent margin.![]()
Wrong approach. Make the bastard chase you until you're ready to stop.
Next time he'll control his dogs.
A friend was once chased by a small dog that gave up after a hundred yards, with the owner puffing behind asking the runner to stop. My friend, instead stopped but only to give the dog hope so it would start running again, and kept doing it until they'd covered about a mile.![]()

Here is a good read on mid-distance running star Chris Solinsky for those interested in competitive running.

That's a great read.
Much shorter, here's what Laura Fleshman says it takes to win after her 5k victory in the USA Championship.![]()
Man, I'm gonna have to get out and run today, it's too gorgeous not to.
Well, she obviously has huge ones.![]()
