    Nice work, SS!

It will only get easier as you stick with your routine (and the weather cools).

Man, my 10-miler at the end of this month is going to be brutal. I haven't done any serious running in a few months, and what I have done has been with my kid and a jogging stroller. I'm not even sure I could finish a 5K at this point. On the plus side, my sister in law joined my running club and is getting close to her couch to 5K goal, as well as losing weight. Proud of her for sure.

Welp, I'm running the Mid-Atlantic Tough Mudder in two days. Last thursday I pulled a muscle in the back and it's taken me this past week to recover. (Some BRUTAL back spasms.) I'm running an easy 2 miles today just to make sure everything is in working order and then it's rest and hydrate until the race.

Congratulations. Running offers so much as a family activity for so many reasons. 5ks are a great event for just about anyone, whether their goal is to walk it and finish in an hour, or satisfy a desire as a competitive event, either in your age group or just against your previous personal best. And they are often great social events that raise money for good causes, whether national or local.

Half-marathon is this Sunday. Really looking forward to it. Had a pretty good run (just over 9 miles) this weekend despite the heat.

My training schedule says I should just go on two 2-mile easy runs this week. Does that sound right? I was going to go for 3 miles since that's an easy loop around my neighborhood.

I wouldn't push yourself this week. Just nice easy paced runs. I wouldn't do anything over 4. Good luck!

The "hay is in the barn" from a training perspective. Sleep, eat and hydrate well. Do easy paced running, say every other day of 30 - 40 minutes duration.

There's nothing wrong with a few efforts ... early in the week you could try running with good form, picking up the pace a little for a few hundred yards just to get a feel for slightly faster running, say 4 x 300 yards with similar distance jog recovery.

Thanks guys. I'll take it easy and go for the short loop around my neighborhood a couple nights.

Finished the TM. Got the headband. It was a wild ride and a lot of fun. Thunderstorm hit at mile 5, complete with a massive hailstorm but we were so covered in mud by then we hardly noticed. I only ran this thing because a friend peer pressured me into it but I'm glad I did it. Definitely a different experience than a road race.

I heard the course was closed down for the Sunday race and that really stinks. But the rain had really turned the entire course into a bog by the time we had finished at around 4pm Saturday. Hopefully they'll be able to reschedule or something.

Army Master Sgt. Mike Morton just ran 172.45 miles to win the 24 Hour World Championships in Poland, and set a new American record.

That's 8:22 minutes per mile pace ... for 24 hours straight. Incredible.

anybody know a good treadmill for running? I'm looking at purchasing one, but I wonder if some are better suited for walking or fast walking vs running. I don't want to buy a cheap one and have it break on me because I was running too fast.

I survived!!! 13.1 miles in 2:32:26. Very happy with my time seeing as this was my first ever race. Had an awesome time. Weather was beautiful and I was able to keep a pretty consistent pace the whole time. Definitely going to be running more!
