Finished the Rock n Roll half Marathon yesterday. Had a real good run and finished in 2:15:36, and my goal was to break 2:30:00. Had nice negative splits and left it all on the course. That will probably be my last race until June.

Way to go Henry that's awesome, I ran 2 whole miles without knee pain this weekend so that was pretty exciting. Really want it to warm up before I try going much longer though.
If they're coming back, you might enjoy the one I did last year, the Wine Country half marathon in Leesburg. It was put on by Destination Races, I believe. Logistics were a nightmare since it was all dirt roads getting there and it had rained for awhile before race day, so many of the grass parking lots were shut down, but once the race started, it was 13 miles of beautiful countryside. I want to say it was less than $100.
A reminder for anyone interested: Registration opens at noon tomorrow, Wednesday March 27th, for the Marine Corp Marathon. Be warned- apparently it sells out very fast (last year in under three hours).
My son and I will be coming up to participate if I successfully register. Fingers crossed.

On days that you donate blood, do you take a break from running? run less? I usually just run what I normally would, but once about 5 years ago, I went for a run on a day I donated blood and felt like I was running in quicksand.
It depends on level of effort. Once you've had something to eat and drink, I wouldn't expect an easy paced jog to be a problem.
A great rule of thumb is to run by feel. If you are tired, or maybe coming down with something, take it really easy. Save the hard efforts for when you're feeling fresh and you'll enjoy it. Unless you are following a really demanding training regime, if your workouts are a slog and not enjoyable, you are doing it wrong.![]()

Registering for this is making me angrier than a feisty midget in a pie factory
No luck with Marine Corps Marathon!Darn it!!
Long story short, I cheated on my regular Mizuno's and got a pair of Brooks Adrenaline for a change of pace. I had a pretty lengthy fitting and should have been able to move into just a normal stability rated shoe without issue. 2 weeks and lots of pain later, I came crawling back asking for forgiveness. Unfortunately the running store wouldn't take them back, so I'm wondering if anyone rocks them and could use some on the cheap. Mens size 11, <30 miles on them, so PM me if you're interested.
A follow-on would be does anybody else use motion control shoes? My normal are the Wave Alchemy, and like you can guess, I am looking to try a new shoe.

Marine Corps Marathon Fills Field in 2:27 Despite Technical Issues
Runners report reg site freezes, gives error messages.

The Marine Corps Marathon filled its field for this year's race in two hours and 27 minutes, the fastest a major marathon has ever sold out, but not without severe technical issues and runner disgruntlement.
Runners attempting to sign up experienced technical difficulties as soon as registration opened at noon Eastern on Wednesday. The race, scheduled for October 27, has a field of 30,000.
On Facebook and Twitter, runners wrote about being unable to access the registration screen. Others wrote about going through almost all of the registration process, including entering their credit card information, but not receiving a confirmation that their registration was accepted.
"I got all the way to check-out, and then it kicked me off- 3 times!!!" Erin Lewis wrote on the race's Facebook page. "I've already planned a family vacation around this and bought tickets. I logged in at 12:01 and you can't handle the traffic in the first MINUTE?"
The marathon's registration provider, Active.com, came under criticism last month when registration for the Chicago Marathon was suspended three hours after opening on February 19 because of technical issues. Chicago wound up using a lottery to allocate the approximately 15,000 spots that weren't filled on February 19.
Marine Corps race director Rick Nealis told the Washington Times he expected a smoother process for his race.
“To best support the high demand and heavy volume of online traffic, the MCM has been working with the online registration service to test system capacity to avoid delays and server issues,” Nealis said. “We expect runners will have immediate success on registration day.”

If only Active.coms registration prowess was as effective as their spam emailing capacities.

I was trying to register for a friend and got all the way to the checkout page and it just stopped. Couldn't get past it and then found out it was sold out. How do they let this happen after last year's mess?
