Honestly, it's a 10/10. One of the BEST albums I've listened to in a long time regardless of genre. Every now and then I get really disappointed in the direction that hip-hop is going. However, when you get a masterpiece like HIGO this should reaffirm to everyone that not all is lost. I don't even know how to put it in words, but the whole album flows flawlessly. The story-telling will leave you in a daze...Black Thought, John Legend, the rest of the Roots crew, and the numerous other guest appearances have found perfection in How I Got Over. This is REAL hip-hop at it's finest, and they deserve your support....GO GET THAT ALBUM!!!

I didn't know they released a new album. I'll have to find it and give it a listen. The Roots are one of the last stands of great hip-hop.

Ya I'll be heading by Best Buy on my way home and getting this. The Roots never disappoint. I heard the song with Blu and Phonte and loved it.

There is other hip hop too, you just need to know where to look. These are all good hip hop albums from this year:

A few years ago, I worked for a university in Public Safety. We had both the Roots and Talib Kweli play at our Spring Concert in back-to-back years. I got to work both shows, and got to meet both .... pretty cool. We also hosted Destiny's Child, but that was before I worked there. Oh yeah, Ludacris played also -- he's got a potty mouth but I was on-stage with him too.

Yeah. There new album is banging. My favorite group of all time. I saw them live a couple years ago in Philly and it was the best concert I have ever been to.
