Sandy teens lift car, rescue toddler

    August 12th, 2010 @ 4:50pm

SANDY -- Three Sandy teens are being hailed as heroes for lifting a car off a toddler who was struck in the driveway of his home Thursday morning.

Police say a 20-year-old woman who also lives at the home near 8400 South and 900 East was leaving for work around 9:30 when 2-year-old boy Isaac Johnson ran behind the car. The woman backed over the child, dragging him about 15 feet down the driveway.

The driver got out of the car, realized what had happened and started screaming. Keaton Chritchlow, 16, and his two friends had just returned from high school registration when they heard the commotion.

"Everyone was running around and screaming," he said. "I thought it was a water fight at first."

When the boys ran across the street, they saw the little boy, who was trapped under the car, a Chevrolet Cobalt. The teens dropped everything and lifted the front end of the car so someone could pull the boy out from underneath the front tires.

Just drove through SLC last week and thought I recognized the name of that town from somewhere.

Anways, lets hope the toddle makes a full recovery.

I wonder how hard it is to life a Chevy Cobalt though, those things cant weight more than 2k pounds.

That's got to be one of the most horrible feelings ever for a parent.
I had a friend's wife that it happened to with fatal results.

    Kudos to the boys

Props to the kids. I'm not sure my first thought in that situation would be, "Hey, let's just lift the car off the ground."

Lots of really good people in that state. God bless these boys.

God bless those boys for their quick thinking. They truly are heros.

I hope that toddler makes a full recovery. I really feel for that mother, I can't even imagine that.
