No doubt. It had totally slipped my mind but I was reading zonalmarking.net last night and they mentioned L'pool's midfield not too long ago: Macherano, Alonso, and Gerrard. Not trying to rub it in, I'm just surprised that it was such a huge difference.

I think Hodgson will be a good hire. Not flashy, but a good coach who will do his work in a track suit not a 3 piece suit and who will be on the back pages not the front pages. I was not a fan of the Redknapp idea - too many skeletons and a guy who is more of a wheeler dealer type manager than someone who does his work on the training field IMO.

Bottom line though they good bring back a combination of Bill Shankly, Brian Clough and Alf Ramsey to manage England and it would not matter as the current crop of players just are not that good - we have one world class player in Rooney in his prime, maybe two with Joe Hart but the rest are either developmental players who MIGHT become world class or past their best like Gerrard/Lampard/Ferdinand.

Eh, Rovers don't have that good of a GD to begin with and still 3 points off Bolton and QPR. With the way Rovers looked last I don't think they've got any fight left. Looking more like Wolves than Wigan in approach. Appreciate the encouragement, though.

That last Suarez strike was a thing of beauty. I agree with you that he's a frustrating enigma.

Hope today's Manchester derby is a good match at least.

Some may say its just a game. But it's about heroes and tribes, loyalty and devotion. It's our commitment and our passion, our battle and our belief.

And now look at it. Henderson, whio I aren't being flip when I say is the single worst player I've ever had the displeasure of watching in a red shirt (and boy have we had some REAL dross the past two decades. But he beats the lot. Looks like he's stepped up three divisions. Even the basics are shocking); Adam, who's gotten worse as the year went on before his injury. No pace, and then his passing went to ****. And for a so called dead ball specialist, his output has been shocking to the extent he dropped down the pecking order to take anything; and Gerrard who's influence is becoming less and less through no other thing than age and injury catching up with him. Doesn't help either that Dalglish has had him sat that far back of loate he's almost been a sweeper. Lucas has been a big loss, but he's no Mascherano.

That was what really finished me with Benitez. The disgraceful way he treated Alonso, who didn't want to go anywhere. Trying to off load him a year before he did do to get Gareth fricking Barry in. No wonder Xabi jumped at the chance to go home. And now he's dominating the Madrid midfield the way he still should be dominating Liverpool's.

A crying shame to see the sub-standard talent now to what was a few years back.

BTW, well done on clinching third and taking something out of this season. (Can't see you not picking up at least one win from the final two so I'll congratulate you now.).

Although I don't do England and never will, I couldn't agree more la. It'll be funny to see the Southern based media and general moronic England fan go into a frenzy because Redknapp's been overlooked. Redknapp who's never done jack in Europe, nor won much of anything. Oh, he has left a **** storm behind him where ever he's been. Hodgson won't be pretty, but if the player's check their ego and work with him, he'll get results. Great tactical manager for the International game. I have a lot of respect for Roy, even given how things went at Anfield. He didn't help himself, and a change had to made; but he was on a loser from the get go. With the turmoil of the previous owners, through the vast majority of the fans against him from the start because he wasn't perceived to be a big enough name (always narked the living piss out of me he's the only L'pool manager in living memory that never had his own song. Complete and utter lack of respect on behalf); and the players disgracefully stopped playing for him, as they did the back end of Rafa's reign, and massively contributing to how it all ended. But through it all he kept his dignity and has never said a bad word about us in the aftermath. Inter Milan love him and have had him back twice.

And you don't get asked back there if you've not got something as a Coach.

    Hail.

*Edit* 'Luck Citeh tonight. No disrespect to the Utd fans on the board, but I'm sure you'll appreciate why.

Not that I have any feeling for City (even less so with the obscene amount of money); but the lesser of two Evils. *Smiles.

    Bitterness?

Well should have had it wrapped up weeks ago but now the chance to finish the job in City's stadium. Tough match but Man Utd is certainly capable of winning there.

DC United with a good win over Houston this weekend and Tottenham rebounded with a nice 2-0 win. Going to be hard for Spurs to get that 4th position by blowing the game against QPR, but they do have a game in hand.

Exciting end for Everton to the season. Disappointing to not be able to make the Europa league, especially through the FA Cup, but hopefully Moyes likes what he sees and stays around to try to keep it going into the start of next year. Loving Jelavic... So nice to finally have a goal scored on Everton. So far, in the past 3 games where Cahill has not started? We have scored 11 goals, not counting the one he scored as a sub. Hes pretty useless...

Really thought you blew a serious chance the semi. Why Everton sat back on a 1-0 I'll never get. Won't get a much better chance than tha to beat L'pool in a game that really matters above local pride. .

Not concerned at all about Saturday against Chelsea. L'pool don't do losing finals 9 times out of 10. But the semi had me petrifified right upuntil the final whistle. First derby in a long time I fully expected to lose.

    Hail.

You can get away with that for now since you had one in 2005 but eventually you'll need something else to hang your hat on. Times that 5 by 5 and you'll have how long Liverpool has nearly gone without EPL championship. *grins*

    Lol. Touche.

Ahh, 2005, the memory's. When UEFA had to cast another European Cup as that one is now forever in place in L'pool's trophy room. Only REAL big clubs actually 'own' a European Cup. Madrid, Milan ..... those irritants down the other end of the East Lancs that Utd just can't get past.

    18+ 5 > 19 +3 ..... for any math challenged out there. *Grins bigger*

*Man I'm having fun here. Thank you man. Almost takes away from an impending City implosion I can see coming.

Yeah... I was really frustrated. We were in great form going into the game. And Distin with that lazy pass back completely changed the game. Went from playing up 1 to have to try to find a winner. I think if Distin doesnt give up that horrible pass, we go on to win it. It was very deflating, and Im not from Liverpool. Cant imagine what it was like for someone that grew up there. Im really starting to dislike Liverpool though. :-D

I read somewhere that now teams get a special note of recognition or something when they win it 3 times in a row or 5 times total. Does that mean that you no longer get to keep it?

    Oh, dislike away MisterP.

It's a 'healthy' way to be when it comes to L'pool/ Everton. STILL the game I want to win more than ANY other (I have to deal with the bitter blues on a daily basis) ..... but don't tell Richmond.

It'll ruin his delusions of grander that Utd actually matter.

UEFA Badge of Distinction. They brought that in a few years ago for clubs that have won 5 or more European Cups or 3 times in a row.

Proudly displayed in European competition on the shirt sleeves of Ajax, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Madrid and Milan.

Darn Richmond, I never even pointed that one out. Their ALL after you man. *Grins super big*
