Default Your Favorite Non Super Bowl/Playoff Moment

I know that we have seen a lot of threads about our favorite Skins moments. Usually they revolve around an important playoff game or Super Bowl. Let's change it up a bit.

Name your favorite Skins moment outside of those areas. This is much harder to do.

For me it was the game where Art Monk broke the receptions record. They threw a few quick passes to him in row. When it started, I just knew I was going to see something special. I just imagine the sideline saying, "It's time, let's give him the record". Seeing that happen the way it did gave me chills. It's one of those rare times that as you are watching something, you know it's history in the making even before it happened.

So what special moment do you remember that didn't happen in the playoffs or Super Bowl?

Probaly Troy Vincent's blocked FG that ST returned. I was sitting like 10 rows from the field on the exact yardline that they were kicking from and everyone in my row left as they were lining up to kick. After so many games of holding on to the smallest bit of hope while everyone else leaves finally paid off that day.

In the last few years for me it was the blocked kick, Sean Taylor return, personal foul, field goal to beat Dallas.

That was the craziest set of up and down swings I can remember at a game. First we miss that field goal. Then that damned pass right down the middle of our D. Then they set up for the gimme FG to win. Fans are starting to get up and leave.

Then you hear the second "thump" on the kick and we're all like "What?".

Then you see Sean pick it up. But crap, he gets tackled. Game over.

But wait, there's a flag. 15-yards?? Yeah, but no time.

But wait, we're in FG range now? What? Wait, it's a long kick.

Crap, looks he pushed it. Wait, there's a little draw to it.

    OMG!!!!!!!

Funny, I was right above you basically. I'll never forget that game.

I have to go with the Monday night game against Dallas. That was truly amazing.
    Some things I've learned:
    Always make a plan.
Pay attention to where you are, what you're doing, and how you're supposed to do it.
Never go to a Steak House and order chicken.
Putting a dollar in a g-string costs too much.

yep. i think Moss on Monday Night will be a popular answer. my brother was at that game in Dallas. i'm jealous. i still remember me and my buddy tim watching that game, and our abject despondence turning to total euphoria in the blink of an eye.

for me, though, that moment MIGHT be eclipsed by the 35-7 drubbing against the cowboys later that same season to knock them out of playoff contention. i was at FedEx for that game, and man, that game was a PARTY from start to finish. definitely my best stadium experience of all time. (i didn't get out to RFK during the glory days ... only times i ever got to go was for pre-season games and Metallica/GnR).

So suppose you could choose the outcome of this upcoming Sept 12 game. Would you choose:

A.) 2 TD comeback in final 4 minutes (with a very nice defensive stand between the two TDs.)

B.) Crazy blocked kick and return leading to game winning FG with time running out.

    C.) The 35-7 party.

    I'll take C.

Joe Thiesmann runs the ball out of the endzone on Monday Night Football to give the Cowboys a safety and Redskins win 9-5, 1978 season.

Redskins beat Raiders 37-35 after being down 37-20 in the fourth quarter, 1983. I was in Children's Hospital just had heart surgury 5 days before.

Lived a good number of years in the Philly area and thus the Eagles have always been the enemy. The game that rivals any SB win was the 20-6 victory in Philly in early '91 to avenge the Body Bag Game and got Buddy Ryan fired......but that was a playoff game, albeit a first-round one. More recently, you had the end-of-season win at Philly punctuated by Sean Taylor diving into the end zone......but that one we needed to make the playoffs.

If you're talking about "not as critical" games, two from the magical 1982 season stand out. The season opener at Philly was my first-ever regular season game in person, and we came back to beat the Eagles 37-34 in OT. And then another was one I listened to on the radio, where Moseley again delivered the game-winning kick, this time in the snow and to set the consecutive FGs record, to beat the Giants.

After thinking about it more, another one would have to be the 1983 game at Dallas. Both teams were 12-2 heading into the game, and we just went down there and handed their butts to them. "No Danny No!" The other thread that mentioned Dave Butz leading the team in sacks in '83 conjured this game up......he lived in the Cowboys backfield that afternoon.
