Default Has Redskins Radio Broadcast always been this incompetent?

I can't believe three guys who call themselves professionals and are actually paid to call football games for a living have absolutely no earthly idea of what's going on in the game. These guys were confused on the overtime rules, confused on certain penalties, things that even the most casual of fans would know. Have they always been like this? Usually I don't listen to the radio for the game, but because of work I had to today.....and damn. We can't do better than these people?

Believe me they are the worst. I have to listen to them during the preseason for the last two years and they are awful.

It's really mostly due to Sam Huff. He's on another planet at this point. Sonny is still sharp, Larry Michael is, well Larry Michael but it's time to move on from Huff.

This. I listened to the entire game minus the last 10 minutes on the radio today. It's mainly Huff. He is horrible. He thought Doughty was the one who stripped Choice and returned the fumble for a TD last week. He couldn't understand why we didn't have someone back to receive the kick on one of the Texans 47 yarders. He was confused about multiple players at multiple positions. He has no idea about penalties. I'm not sure whether it's him not doing any pre-game prep work and just showing up and mailing it in or him being senile. Probably a combination of the two. In a way, it's disturbing to listen to.

Larry Michael just sucks. But he's the ultimate kiss ass, corporate whore. He'll never get fired. He ran Frank out of town and we're stuck with him.

I think Sonny still has it though.

We REALLY need an upgrade in the booth, but people have been saying this for 5 years and they have done nothing to improve the quality of our broadcast.

I've given up. I've complained that this booth has been awful for years and are in need of a complete overhaul and the Redskins continue to trot out this garbage. I've stopped listening to the radio call altogether. I have not listened to them once this season and will not ever again until major changes.

It was definitely Huff, he is an astronaut.

I listened to most of the game before getting a late feed of the game to watch. Its sad really, Sam is treated like an old grandad continually needing reminded of something he has a brief memory of. The number of times the others would gently have a conversation with Sam who I dont think realised that the 'conversation'; was the other guys way of explaining to listeners what Sam was kind of, sort of meaning. Its cruel in a way. Well meant to have an old timer on the crew but the outcome is hard to listen to at times.

If the problem is Huff than the problem is really Larry Michael. He's supposed to be the base, the foundation of that crew. He's not strong enough to carry a wonky color guy. It's a shame that Huff ain't what he used to be. Sam and Sonny (and Frank) used to be the absolute best!

The problem we have is that Sam is a legend. It's hard for a legend to fade away. It's even harder to give a legend the boot.

Haven't listened to the radio broadcast in years, but even Fouts didn't know some of the rules yesterday. He couldn't believe the Texans didn't try a 52 yarder to win the game in overtime. He kept saying it would be 'over'. Hopefully someone talked in his ear to tell him about the new overtime rules.

That new overtime rule only applies to playoff games. So he was correct.

Where was Fouts wrong? I couldn't believe it either, but it turned out Kubiak ended up coming out on top anyways

Yeah, Sam's off his rocker and Larry's no Frank Herzog. Still gotta love Sonny, though. Still sharp as a tack.
