A great thing. I've been watching Summer League play and Beal gets it. You keep hearing how his mature his game is and then when you see it yourself you understand what people mean by that. There are some players in Summer League that are putting up big numbers but it seems more in an effort to show off their skills then it is within the team concept. As the 3rd pick in the draft I'm sure he has the green light to jack up a lot of shots but he's taken very good shots within the offense. Even though he hasn't shot well he has done everything else including playing defense, gathering assists, rebounding and driving to the basket. He's really going to be a great addition to this team. He'll fit right in.
Outside of being shot, does this not sum up the Andray Blatche era in Washington?

“I just wanted to say to the fans … in D.C. and across the nation, they’ve been great for us, cheering us on. At away games they show up in the masses and at home they really made it feel like a home-field advantage. We said this when I was in college, ‘We got a chance to sit at the dinner table and experience success and it was a good meal. But now we want to go back to get dessert.’ We’ll be ready to get dessert next year.”
Robert Griffin’s last words at the press conference.
Summer league is all about adding things to your game and testing them out in game environments. As someone else wrote, the process is more important than the results. It'll be that way throughout the season as he develops.
Coaches don't focus on makes and misses for any player anyway. He just needs to take good shots and run his plays on offense.

In the summer league, I only get worried if a player looks like he doesn't belong. Everything else is a work in progress.

Mack is utterly hopeless. I actually liked the pick at the time, but he complete lacks the size and speed needed to play at this level. Really need to find a way to get a vet PG to backup Wall.
