Arenas was a volume shooter shooting in the low 40% range and none of the three played defense. You do not win titles in the NBA playing zero defense. Arenas was not close to as efficient as LeBron or Wade. Those teams were flawed and basically just inferior versions of the Suns teams of those times who at least got to the 2nd round routinely before the Spurs D massacred them.

Gilbert in his prime was one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA. Look up all the advanced stats on him. He was a ridiculous scorer and made everyone around him A LOT better. Jamison, Hughes and Butler owe a lot to Gilbert in terms of the success they had in DC.
Gil was a great player but he was never Lebron/Kobe/Wade. He was a notch below. At best he was in that Melo territory.

Gil would go on hot streaks. But in between man sometimes it'd 30 shots for 20 points. But when he was hot he was red hot. The problem is he was never a great rebounding or passing PG so if he was cold one night he was invisible since he also didn't care about defense.

He was a complete scorer. Could score from everywhere on the court, but he was never as efficient as Wade or LeBron. Though he was a hell of a three point shooter. If he hadn't been flattened by Wallace who knows where his career would've gone. Or if the Wiz medical staff had handled his injury properly instead of rushing him back a half dozen times.
Anyone who goes please bring Fire Ernie signs.
Yeah. The biggest problem with Gil, aside from the defense, was the off court stuff. You can't have your best player and leader be doing the kind of stuff he did.
Can you ever imagine LeBron/Wade/Kobe/Dirk/Duncan/KG/Rose/Durant ever taking a dump in one of their teammate's shoes? Could you ever imagine them bringing a ****ing gun into the locker room as part of a damn prank?
The dump prank alone was horrifically unprofessional. Gil was a clown. You can't win with someone like that. Everyone who was involved in that era needs to be gone. We will never stop being a clown show until they are.
