Default Lavar/Dukes interview Devin Thomas: they conclude the problem isn't him

    http://cbswjfk.files.wordpress.com/2...seg14.mp3?dl=1

Lavar and Chad Dukes conducted a lengthy interview with Devin Thomas about, among other things, his lack of playing time. The interview will be aired this Sunday on Sports Week at 11:30 on DC 50. At any rate, after interviewing him, they determined that Devin wasn't the problem. They concluded that there's something personal going on with Devin and the Redskins are playing games with him. In particular, they likened his situation to what happened to Lavar towards the end of his tenure here.

Having said that, there are some qualifications. The interview, of course, is one sided as we're only getting Devin's version of why he isn't getting playing time at WR. And we haven't heard or watched the interview at all in its entirety to get what Devin states as his case for playing time. Then, there's always the fact that Lavar still may not be the most objective guy when it comes to the Redskins.

If you had to go on what we hear in the clip above, however, you get the impression that Devin is doing what he's asked and really wants to get on the field. He supposedly was on the brink of tears at one point during the interview when expressing his desire to get some PT at WR. While we won't know for sure what exactly is going on, his story does have some plausible ring to it (a la Shanny and Haynesworth). And, as I've noted before, the guy does have the talent and skills to play WR. He did so last year and we're simply in no position to be picky in who we choose in sending out there as our WRs.

I say give the kid a chance so he can give the Redskins a chance at opening up their offense. Unless there's some real good reason why he's sitting down as a WR (but somehow not as a KR), this has gone a bit too far.

People act like Devin Thoams is some multi time Pro Bowl WR who is getting the shaft. This isn't like the Randy Moss situation in New England where you have two qualified sides(Randy Moss, who's been dominant, vs. Bill Bellicheck who has multiple rings).

Shanahan has a ton more credibility. He's been a consistent winner in this league and has been around forever. Thomas has done next to nothing. I'll take Shanahan's position. If Thomas isn't seeing the field it's simply because he isn't good enough.

Thank you. I'm so tired of Devin "Woe Is Me" Thomas. If he is a good receiver with good work habits, he'd be on the field. Anyone who thinks there's something "personal" between the head coach and him is frankly an idiot.

I'm sure going on a radio show and crying will earn him some playing time.

Where have you guys been? There was a thread that ran on extremeskins the last 2 years "Cult of Colt" for one of the worst QBs in NFL history. He some garnered a legion of redskins fans and had them convinced he could start here and take us to promise land.

That bum is now out of the NFL

    HAIL!

So, there was nothing "personal" between Shanny and Fat Al? Or Shanny and Jake Plummer? I'm not trying to fault Shanny, but everyone has feeling that can be rubbed raw at some point. And I think Shanny's has for some reason or another. So, while there's a question as to whether there is a personal thing between Shanny and DT, to categorically eliminate that as a possibility is really absurd.

    DT is a top 10.

He always has at least 2 threads in the top 10 of this forum.
I believe in the Redskins, therefore I'm the enemy.

Unfortunately, we've sucked for so long that we have many fans who are willing to put players like Devin Thomas, Patrick Ramsey, and Jason Campbell on a pedestal. It's embarrassing.

No, there wasn't anything personal between the head coach and Albert Haynesworth. He treated him like he would any player who would voluntarily skip workouts and be otherwise unethusiastic about being on the team. Its not personal. It amazes me that everybody jumps to the conclusion that if a coach shows any discipline to a player that it must be personal. Get over it.
