    Default Thank a Veteran

I know this isn't football related, but I wanted to put it out to everyone who comes on to ES....

If you are a fellow Veteran, I stand up and salute you. The sacrifices made by all servicemen and women will never be forgotten. We may come home to protests, to anti-military parades, to neighbors who turn their backs on us because of the uniform we where, but there is one thing to remember.....

When you see that small child, in his/her parents arm, holding the American Flag, all of your sacrifices have been justified. We may not always agree with the decisions of our government, but we will always agree that supporting the freedoms of our Great Nation is a far more important task then we could have ever dreamed of.

Veterans Day is the official day set aside by our government to thank veterans past and present for their sacrifices. This is a task that we all, as Americans, should do each and every day. For those who never served in the Military, you (at no fault of your own) can never comprehend the pride that one has each and every time they put on their military uniform. If you do not take the time out of your daily life each day to thank a veteran, please do so today.

"America, the land of the Free, ONLY as long as it remains the home of the BRAVE!"

Thank you all my fellow veterans

Many do not know or fully understand the sacrifices our soldiers give every day for us to sleep soundly every night. I currently serve in the U.S. Coast Guard and I thank my fellow shipmates for a job well done everyday!

As a veteran, I should be but am not surprised at the lack of comments on this thread. 18 views, 2 replies. That means 16 people read this thread and couldn't take the 3 seconds to type "Thank you" Very disturbing considering what all veterans give up for you to have those 3 seconds of freedom

Thank you all who serve. This country truly wouldn't be the same without you. In fact, it wouldn't be in existence at all.

    Thanks Soup!

Your OP reminds me of my favorite cadence:
They say that freedom is free but i beg to disagree

come home soon to all our soldiers still in the sandbox come home safe

To those people I saw they live their entire life with blinders on. They should say that to the family members of the servicemembers who die in action everyday now. Or to those who survived in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam who are still alive today. Servicemembers willing go into situations that over 85% (and that is being generous) of our population would run from scared.

Anyone can say they will risk everything for their country, but it takes a special kind of person to lay their life down for a stranger

Thanks to all that put themselves in harms way to protect our freedoms. I work with many veterans and am one myself.

I can only wish our politicians in Washington will stop taking away the freedoms we are fighting to protect.

Not everyone puts stock in words written on a website. People are reflective much in the same way they mourn, according to their own rules. Thank you for your service to our country though. Your sacrifice means a lot, even to those who haven't taken the time to say it.

I read this earlier but was heading out the door to take care of some stuff but now I get a chance to sit down and say thank you to everyone who has served our country. As someone who has had many family members serve in the military, I know just how important and how much of a risk it is to serve the USA and keep us safe. Thank you to everyone who does serve or has served

I do understand where you are coming from. But my reason for what I said goes much deeper then people not posting on this thread. I will only state a few of them

    1. When people protest a military funeral for an AMERICAN who gave up their life to protect our freedoms, they are not denouncing the decisions of our government, they are disrespecting that persons life
    2. When a veteran returns home (ie their home town) 40% of the time, they will have a fellow citizen degrade them and their service, mock them, spit in their face, and yes even had people attempt to deny them service like we are still in the 50s/60s and they are of another race.
    3. Have had to hide their time of service out of fear of public ridicule that goes well beyond words

So yes, I do understand, agree with, and accept that people are reflective in their own way in paying their respects, but as a veteran it burns me deep inside when people pass hate and a lack of respect on to veterans.
