Sonny and Sam will retire together. They are best friends. They arrived as Redskins together and they will leave together.

"That's not enough rings," Griffin said. "We've got to get more."
"Alright, Sammy," Griffin said. "I'll see you later."
I say keep 'em until THEY decide to retire. They have been the most entertaining part of the games the last coupla years.
Sonny could broadcast with a different partner if Sam "retired".

I wonder if the organization needs a push on this. I'm sure they see it just like most fans who feel just awful for Sam and his senility on air. I wouldn't want to start a petition or anything, that seems sacrilegious, but maybe if some from ES wrote some nice respectful letters asking for a change for the better and asking what the organization was panning for the future there...IDK, just a thought, but I would love to keep seeing and hearing those two guys, just not every game all through the games.

If I had to put an O/U on it 2yrs tops now if im the person in picking the replacement I would say Mike Patrick,John Riggins and a toss up between Mann or Bostic but I would ask Larry to step aside for one last game for Sonny,Sam and Frank
Sonny is still the best out there. Sam is getting a little....senile but I wouldn't replace him for anything in the world. Those two still crack me up every week. Sonny gets such attitude by the end of the season having to explain the same rule over and over. I love them both, That said, they are getting up there and will eventually retire (hopefully they won't go out like Frank). I like Doc Walker, he would be the Sonny replacement, over flowing with knowledge of the game specializing on offense. Now Sam's replacement they could play it safe with someone like Charles Mann or go outside of the box and choose Dexter. He would bring so much life to the broadcasts and I think Doc could keep him somewhat reeled in. I just wish the station in RVA wasn't so awful.
oooh! I definitely like the idea of Dexter in there, Doc Walker, Riggo, and Dexter would be awesome, but I don't think Riggo would be down to have to "go to work" every sunday, I know he watches all the games, but he seems so layed back on his radio show, I can't see him wanting to have too many responsibilities throughout the season

I love Sonny & Sam and what they have done for the organization, but it is time. Seems like they have been working Doc into the mix more and more the past couple years so he's a logical choice, and Joey T seems to have gotten more involved with the organization since he left MNF so I wouldn't be surprised to see (well, hear) a Larry-Joe-Doc team, maybe with someone like Smoot on the sidelines..
Red Zebra just re-up Sonny and Sam for 2012-2013... wow. I think Sam really does needs to take a lesser role.
EDIT:
Here is the 980 Facebook status:

Didn't realize that Sam had been broadcasting Redskins football since 1975.
Good move having Sam do a reduced schedule. Its a good way to try and ease him out slowly. I like Sam, but he just doesn't have it anymore.
