I would think/hope they'd try to keep an offensive player and a defensive player. Theismann would be way too much for me, but I barely listen as I am at all the home games. I'd love for us to have a guy like Smoot do it for the defense, but he isn't a Redskins great. Charles Mann showed more and more on the tv broadcasts last year, BMitch now works for 980, Rick Walker has been waiting for his shot. So there are no shortage of greats that are in the wings waiting.

We'll know soon, because the first away game is Aug 8 at Buffalo. (that's if they stick to a three man team on the road).

Maybe they will do a bunch of guest announcers and see who does best. Who knows.

    More Sam Huff,
Sorry if that's blasphemous, but for my purposes, Sam makes for some hilarious podcasts.

But when it's time to make the change, I say put them both out to pasture at the same time and give it to Joe Theismann and Doc Walker

Sam seems to be like that sick dog , and the family doesn't have it in them to put him down. You could have a haph hour special on his blooper lines from just one game alone. Its not even funny how bad he is anymore, just plain sad. Keep Sonny, Larry is a tool but he does the play by play good. And I think it is time to take Doc Walker off the sideline and into the booth. IMO

i really like doc's sideline reporting. so much, in fact, that i'd prefer he stayed away from the booth and stayed on the sidelines.

also, theisman wouldn't let sonny get a word in edgewise. so, i don't want him in the booth either.

i'd be okay with a two-man booth with just sonny and larry

Charles Mann would be tremendous. Doc would be my other choice but as much as I like Sam Huff as a person he really is unlistanable and we really needa change. Sonny could still do it though. Too bad Riggins and Snyder are on bad terms

I wonder if they'll have a sub for Sam on those road game, Charles Mann is my vote[COLOR="Gold"]

Sonny & Sam have earned the right to call it quits on their own terms. Yeah I know Sam hasn't been good over recent years, but the poor product on the field exacerbates it. When the team becomes a winner again some of Sam's in the booth deterioration won't even be focused on.

Whenever that day comes next in line should be Doc and Theisman. They both have the most broadcasting experience out of anyone else. Doc can analyze the defensive side of the ball, he always done that well as part of his whole broadcasting career

I used to turn off the TV sound and listen to the radio broadcast; but the last two seasons the radio has been so out of sync with the TV here in the Ocean City area that I have not been able to do that. Sam may have got worse than what I recall from a couple years ago; but I mainly enjoyed them because they were real fans and made me feel like I was watching the game with fans who also knew the game. I wish I could listen to them on the radio like I used to.

I think they did the right thing by Sam by reducing his schedule. He's done great work for the franchise, off and on the field, but it maybe time for him to begin his retirement.

    BMitch wholeheartedly agreed with it.

You know its really odd, Sam does a column about football that actually makes sense and is well thought out, so it seems odd that he is so out of it on the air.

Everyone use to turn down the TV and listen to the radio broadcast. I remember it well as a kid growing up. Those games with the radio on were a big part of childhood Sunday afternoons. You're right though, it's nearly impossible to do anymore with the way things are so out of sync. My own kids aren't familiar with the experience.

To me, Sonny and Sam are like family. I'll let them stay as long as they wish. They've earned it. Besides, you have to admit the element of humor that has been introduced with their older age. They don't pretend to be spring chickens, and they are humble enough to laugh at themselves. The day of their last broadcast together will be bittersweet. You better believe I'll be listening.

I stilllisten to the radio call either while watching the game live, or on the tv when the team isonthe road. Ihate listening to former cowboys call a redskins game.....especially when we r playing dallas.

That said....i enjoy listening to sonny.....but agree with many posters about sam.....his comments are sometimes so far removed from what is happening on the field.....he is almost like a cheerleader only. I don'tmind larry michael. I agree that i would like to hear theismann....maybe riggins....and a play by play guy. That would be a interesting booth.

Hahaha, Riggins, Joey T and Larry Michael? Two guys that are never wrong, one of whom unrealistically picks the Redskins in every game, and then Larry, who I like more and more each year, who is as much a company man as I've ever seen and doesn't like to upset anyone. That would be listening gold!

Didn't Joey to just sign up with NFL network last year? Would they allow him to call Redskins games? I'm sure he'd rather call the games, but still...

Yeah, that's very true, hahaha. But you'd have to wonder what a booth of BMitch and Smoot would sound like. My guess is by the end of the first half they'd both be so deep into country slang that you wouldn't understand a word they were saying until there was a penalty they disagreed with.

I still think next up should be Ric Walker and Charles Mann with Larry Michael. I'd also love to see Kevin Sheehan take over for Larry Michael...
