    Yep, he gets a pay-to-stay or better contract, I'm sure. The Skins never lose coaches they really want to keep or at least aren't out bid.

    He's respected by the players, and IMO he's a good fiery coach. I'm glad he decided to stay here in DC.

    We need all the continuity we can get as far as coaching goes.

    If Smith is so bad then why were teams like the Steelers, Lions, Seahawks, GreenBay, Carolina and now Denver interested in him?

    Anyone defending Smith needs to read that and explain to us in your defense and cheering of his returning why since 2004 when Smith got here have we been consistently unable to find a Field Goal Kicker, a Punter, or a Punt Returner? Is the ST coach simply there to make sure we can cover another teams kicks or is he expected to produce these players as well? If he is expected to do more then field coverage units Smith is a well below average Special Teams coach and none of us should be at all happy about him getting a contract extension. He didn't earn one and is one of the worst coaches we have on the team. Every year special teams is a problem, why can't people see that?
