Ian Paice had very fast hands, very good chops, but so do a huge number of drummers. It gets to the point where so many people have filthy chops that you have to look beyond that. Bonzo's feel is regarded as arguably the best ever. His skill set ranged from amazingly subtle to so blatantly thunderous. (I usually see Paice playing at a high "pace", so to speak). Bonzo's orchestration, phrasing and groove is unmistakable. You can pick his drumming out right away, even to this day. Paice, to me at least, is a little harder to decipher out of a crowd of great drummers.

Come to think of it, Paice sorta played like Bonzo. Don't know how much of an influence he had on Paice, but seems like he was a big one.

A key Paice influence was the likes of Kruppa which is in line with what you mentioned about playing with a high tempo.

I suppose it was a general comment really. By '77 Zep had reached Spinal Tap levels. They played 3 hour sets but those 3 hours would be 30 to 45 minute drum solos, 30 minutes Dazed and Confused, 30 minutes Whole Lotta Love and so on. Everything seemed to be required to be stated in some overblown way.

Agreed. I am always intrigued but hard rock chicks that can play. Not just a gimmick.

I did a youtube search and found some more, and also found a band called the Iron Maidens. Good stuff.

We'll know one way or the other tomorrow.

At away games they show up in the masses and at home they really made it feel like a home-field advantage. But now we want to go back to get dessert.’ We’ll be ready to get dessert next year.”

    He is my Zeppelin story.

A while ago I referenced this in a thread about surreal/weird things that have happened in your life. I didn't mention the name because I was just moving out at the time. Anyhow, that was a few months ago, and now I have started telling people because IT IS AMAZING and I had to keep it a secret for a year.

I lived next to Robert Plant for several months here in Austin. He moved into a cottage actually connected to mine. He ived with Patty Griffin. Our dogs used to play together a lot and would have brief convos with him. We never talked music - just everyday stuff. A few times I heard him singing through my wall. Unreal.

Crazy how down to earth they were. They could have bought a mansion in the hills outside the city. Instead they rented a bungalow (a nice one) right in the city. After I moved out, he took my place over to make it a practice studio. Plan is to buy the entire property and make a multiple house compound.

I didn't really listen to Zeppelin growing up (no one in my family is really into them nor most of friends), but a couple years ago a dear friend of mine and I were talking about music and it piqued my interesting. I knew who they are and the impact they had on music, but haven't listened to any of their stuff.

I'm not a super fan like some of you guys, but I really love their music.

Duckus shared a washing machine with Robert ****ing Plant. That is one of the craziest things I've heard in a long time.

Looking forward to that. I don't like that the show Revolution is trying to use them to boost/maintain ratings. Try using better actors next time.

For anybody that cares, CBS is going to be showing the Kennedy Center Awards tonight at 9pm. Led Zeppelin (at least 3 of them) were being honored and will be on the show (not performing).
