Ian Paice had very fast hands, very good chops, but so do a huge number of drummers. It gets to the point where so many people have filthy chops that you have to look beyond that. Bonzo's feel is regarded as arguably the best ever. His skill set ranged from amazingly subtle to so blatantly thunderous. (I usually see Paice playing at a high "pace", so to speak). Bonzo's orchestration, phrasing and groove is unmistakable. You can pick his drumming out right away, even to this day. Paice, to me at least, is a little harder to decipher out of a crowd of great drummers.Originally Posted by HogNose
Come to think of it, Paice sorta played like Bonzo. Don't know how much of an influence he had on Paice, but seems like he was a big one.
