You'll hear some **** but nothing really bad SHOULD happen. Up here in Bethlehem there was an incident between an Eagles and Cowboys fan a while back which made the news but other than that it isn't so bad other than some **** talk and stuff like that. Now I'm sure certain parts of philly are worse than others like out at Drexel you'll be fine...if you were around North/South philly you might see stupid **** like vandalism to your car if you have Redskins crap on it or something but I don't think its a big thing.

Now wear Redskins/Nationals/Caps stuff to an Eagles, Phillies, or Flyers game....uhhhhh......bad idea.

I'm trying to think if I have ever been accosted anywhere in my life due to my fandom outside of a visiting stadium.

Nope. Except for those few years in the 80s when I joined The National Front of course.

The thing that INSTANTLY turns me off about any city is arrogance. Which is why Boston, for instance, probably tops my list as the last place on earth I would ever live. Not to mention the wonderful climate and reasonable cost of living.
    **** you!!!

Seriously though, arrogant? Maybe back in the 1840s, and maybe when you meet Harvard kids who've gone elsewhere, but I find people here not too arrogant, except maybe about the Pats and Sox.

One thing I actually love about it here is that it's not cool to fawn over celebrities, and it's not OK to flaunt wealth, power or celebrity excessively. If you bump into someone famous you make eye contact, give them a nice "howahya?" and then let the door slam in their face as you walk through it, just like with anybody else.

I'm surprised that there are as many as a small handful of people on this thread who have managed to have a genuinely bad time in Boston. Such a great city, both to live in and to visit.

But for every great place, you can find a handful of folks who have had a bad time there. Many went in with an open mind; some others didn't. Going to Boston and then complaining about the cold or the driving experience is like going to Phoenix and whining about the heat or the lack of public transportation.

If I could bury Philly under the sea and physically move the entirety of greater Boston into its place, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Despite being more than twice Boston's size, Philly offers maybe half as much. And Philly's provincial weirdness makes Boston look like the cultural center of the planet. I won't even get started on Philly; the two cities are opposites in many ways, and Boston comes out ahead in the great majority of those comparisons.

One major Philly area advantage, though: the suburbs.

The ES Geographical Homer game. Match up the ES Poster with the region they would **** if it were a woman:

    mjah------------------------Ireland, all of Europe really
    Corcaigh------------------West Virginia
    Predicto-------------------Boston
    Joeknows-----------------San Francisco
    Major-----------------------Ass-knuckle, Mississippi

It took me a while to even figure out what you were asking.

mjah - Boston. I read the thread.
Corky - Ireland/Europe. He is an elitist who probably makes less than a Starbucks barista.
Predicto - San Francisco because he is a dirty hippie.
JoeKnows - I don't know who that is. Mississippi by process of elimination.
Major - WV, even though he is not really a West Virginian. He just likes the eastern panhandle and Morgantown. That's like claiming to be a Texan because you have a summer house in Galveston.

That last one was just to cause trouble.

You want to be careful going very deep into ass-knuckle territory.

They were. And it is one of the greatest towns for live music in the U.S. I barely made it out alive as an Alaskan and a Redskins fan (especially given my sense of humor and frequent mode of conduct at the time ).

Oh, puns. Is there no situation that you can't improve?

LA is really the only city I've ever been in where it seemed to be that the people were 10 to 15 percent more attractive than anywhere else. Probably because a large number of people 10 to 15 percent than everyone else in their high school move to LA to become famous.

Other cities with "hot" women have "hot" women for two reasons:

    1. The culture involves everyone exercising a lot (Denver) and
    2. It's warm enough that you don't wear a lot of clothing.

I'm sure Milwaukee is more than capable of producing attractive women. It's just ten degrees in May and every vegetable is covered in cheese.

Having said that, it's probably a lot easier to get laid in Milwaukee - unless you are really handsome like I am.

Colleges work this way as well. There is not that much difference between the pool of candidates for Stanford and the pool of candidates for Yale. It's just that everyone at Stanford lives like a triathlete in training whereas at Yale it rains 325 days a year and you will get shot if you go for a jog.

Seriously, I think going to Stanford automatically causes you to grow 3 inches and lose 5 percent of your body fat. Stanford grads are like Australians. I don't like them.
