Default Top Five Rolling Stones songs - List your favorites

I see where there have been more than a few threads on here about the Stones over the years. Some with some good videos in them, some about the Scorcese film, and so on, but if you had to narrow your favorites of the band down to five, what would they be? Yes, I know it's tough, but try if you like. I'm really interested in seeing some of the responses. ( Not in any particular order )

    1. Gimme Shelter - the tone or sound of the music fits perfectly with the lyrics

    2. Midnight Rambler - ( live ) the highs and lows of this one are great

    3. No Expectations - have always loved the piano and slide guitar on this one

    4. Torn and Frayed - really, a country song with a great chorus

    5. Monkey Man - haunting piano intro with some great guitar riffs

This is impossible. Can I do ten? I'm doing ten.

    1. Salt of the Earth - I love songs where Keith sings lead. I'm ridiculous that way.
    2. Tumblin' Dice - This makes me want to take heroin.
    3. Before They Make Me Run - This makes me want to overdose on heroin.
    4. Moonlight Mile - This makes me want to drive around LA on heroin at night.
    5. Gimme Shelter - The background vocals on this make me want to have sex.
    6. Brown Sugar - This makes me want to have sex.
    7. Paint It Black - Brian Jones' influence at its best.
    8. Happy - More Keith. This makes me on heroin and having your best friend bang your girfriend sound awesome.
    9. Shine a Light - Can't I just list all of Exile?
    10. ***** - The B-word. Just an insane riff.

    1. Sway - Stones are not close to my favorite band - maybe not top 15. But this one makes a strong case for best pure classic rock song ever.
    2. Let It Bleed
    3. Moonlight MIle
    4. Stray Cat Blues
    5. Gimme Shelter

honorable mention to Monkey Man, Jigsaw Puzzle

Gimme Shelter - one of the greatest songs ever
Paint It Black - creepy and atmospheric
(I can't get no) Satisfaction - simple rock at its best (much better than Jumping Jack Flash)
Sympathy for the Devil - great sneering lyrics
Brown Sugar - rocks hard (alhough the lyrics are really disturbing)

Since this seems to be a consensus favorite so far, here you go:
( Mick Taylor is the Man )

I'm sorry, but that is one song that just isn't even close to as excellent live as it was in the studio. Only with Merry Clayton's background vocals (especially at the 3 minute mark) can it be complete.

Actually, it's funny you say that, I might agree, and I would say the exact opposite of Midnight Rambler.

I thought I'd put mine before I checked out the rest. Not surprised Gimme Shelter is up there for most, it's one of my favorite of all time.

That is true. Some songs are better clean and precise, some songs are better sloppy and live.
