Well at least he's a true American.
Lance's pockets are straight.
Well at least he's a true American.
Lance's pockets are straight.
Jim Haslett is a horrible coach.
But why did he give up, then? If they threatened to take my legacy and my allegedly hard fought 7 straight that I won "cleanly", I'd fight till the end. That's what bothers me about Lance just giving up because he's tired of fighting accusations. It's just such a stark contrast from his normally combative demeanor towards anyone who dared to accuse him of cheating.
I read a few stories today about the people who Lance inspired. People who were ridden with cancer, who read his book, who were inspired. I give him that. He was an inspirational figure to many. He was also a cheat. It's a shame his legacy ends like this.
HAHAHA!!!
Your jig is finally up. Maybe now people will finally believe what so many have been saying for so long: you cheated.
Formerly known as Nunya Bidness per arrangement with ES staff
Mark McGwire never failed a test. Neither did Sammy Sosa. Neither have most of the NFL.
If Lance Armstrong wants to show that he didnt cheat, then he would fight this. He was bullying people around for years and being a prick to everyone who accused him of this in before, now that the USADA have gotten involved he falls back? yeah ok.
I just want this same standard to be used for Barry Bonds.
and again, armstrong has not been stripped of his Tour De France titles. The USADA do not have the authority to do so. dont believe ESPN, they are clueless.
Would you continue fighting someone who no matter how much money you spent, time you wasted wasn't going to give up trying to railroad you? He had enough and wanted to move on with his life, I can understand that. You may think he was a prick, that's fine, but he was never a proven cheater.

He gave up because he didn't want to deal with it anymore. I could honestly careless about cycling, never watched any of it but I get pissed off when someone is railroaded.
Something about it doesn't sit well with me. He's never tested positive and hasn't competed in the event in many years.
You don't see the NFL going back and testing all the players from the 2004 super bowl winner do you?
Yet you don't get pissed off when someone is most likely completely guilty of cheating on a huge scale and has been lying about it and denying it for years? I know you're sticking to the "well nobody found him guilty" story but it is specious at best. I think one of the reasons he gave up the fight is because he knew that with all of the witnesses they apparently had lined up, etc that he would be found guilty. So he just gave up the fight and can now forever say "hey nobody ever found me guilty of it".
railroad? huh?
You realize the European press, ICU, etc had took the charges seriously but fell back because of his bullying? And I feel no sympathy for a guy that has spent the better part of the decade railroading everyone who dares question his accomplishment. This is the guy that called his former teammates nobodies. The guy who sues people for using the words "Live" and "Strong." Screw him.
If the USADA hadnt gotten involved, he would not have backed down.
no, he gave up because got found out. But you know what, whenever an accused person in the court of law agrees to a plea bargain I want you to hold this same standard for them as well.

Or to put bluntly, just admit you dont believe OJ Simpson killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. At least he went to court and was found innocent.

It's real easy to tell him to spend countless amounts of money because it's not your money he is spending. Any guesses how much he's already spent fighting all these charges?
As far as comparing him to baseball or football players, but Mark and Sammy didn't fail tests cause there were none, Bonds claimed ignorance using steriods and I'm not sure how long football has been testing.
Asiatic, did Armstrong do something to you personally?
he has done nothing to me, and if he wasnt a bully to everyone (which is why Im laughing at the countless money angle you took here because Armstrong has done this to EVERYONE over the last decade who dared question him or use "Strong" to sell a product.) I wouldnt care about this.
He cheated, everyone in that era cheated in cycling. The TDF champions from 1996-2010 have all had drug allegations, failed tests, or admitted to drug use. If everyone was cheating, how am I to believe a man with one testicle was beating them with ease like Armstrong was?
Now saying that, and just like I feel about Bonds, Armstrong dominated an era of cheaters which includes himself. It should not take away from his accomplishments at all and I do not believe he should be stripped of any title because that was the only way to compete. I am just sick and tired of him bullying people for so long and railroading them, and finger wagging at anyone who says he used something. More than anything else, I am tired his fans and the American media for not holding him up to the same standards they have with athletes in other sports who use PEDs.
People want to remember him as a great guy who inspired people, and that's the truth. But he was also a bully, and that is also the truth. The image of him wasn't squeaky clean. He vigorously pursued anyone who would dare question him, and beat them down verbally. He ruined many reputations of people who simply implied that he cheated. I was fine with this, if he was clean. If he didn't cheat. But he did. When given the chance to challenge these accusations, he backed out. To me, that implied he was cheating. Yeah, he fought those allegations for decades, and maybe he burned out. But if you were truly innocent, and people called you a sham and a cheat, wouldn't you defend your honor too?
The reason the media doesn't go after him as hard as they did the other cheaters...this guy raised money for cancer research, and he inspired so many people. But that's only one side. Everyone, Lance defender or not, knows that he vigorously defended himself against allegations. That's indisputable fact. To just lie down and give up, that's not him.
