Santorum Clarifies 'Snob' Remarks About Obama And College

During the Republican candidate forum on Fox News, Rick Santorum faced a critical question from a college student in Ohio who was on the panel, on his having accused President Obama of being a "snob" who wants everyone to go to college — a remark that the student said did not go over well on his own campus. Santorum then sought to clarify the situation.

"It wasn't about having a chance to go to school. I was actually going on and talking about how, the president with health care was mandating the health care you're going to have," said Santorum, as well as the government financial reform measures regulating people's mortgages, "going through a whole bunch of things where he was telling you what's best for you." He stated that he, too, believes everyone should have the opportunity to go to college, or to pursue other opportunities in life such as technical schools (in fact, Obama included technical schools in his original remarks), joining the military, or going straight into business and the job market.

He further added: "It's this attitude that we, that government knows best for everybody, and we're going to reject this template, which is what i was reacting to, was this elitist sort of behavior."

Voters Slowly Realizing Santorum Believes Every Deranged Word That Comes Out Of His Mouth

WASHINGTON—As Rick Santorum has emerged to become Mitt Romney's leading opponent for the Republican presidential nomination, the American electorate said Monday it had slowly begun to realize that the former Pennsylvania senator sincerely believes every deranged word that exits his mouth.

Uneasy voters told reporters it was becoming more and more evident that comments from Santorum defending sodomy laws as acceptable restrictions on "wants and passions" and characterizing pregnancy occurring through rape as a "gift" from God were not politically calculated but were, in fact, spoken out of sincere, startling conviction.

"I honestly thought he was just playing up to the far-right voters, because that's what Republicans are supposed to do in the primaries," said Grand Rapids, MI resident Dan Banks, who explained he had dismissed as manipulative campaign rhetoric Santorum's assertion that President Obama would send Christians to the guillotine. "But now it's dawning on me that this guy means it, all of it. Every single thing he says is an accurate depiction of how he sees the world."

"The rule of law is to be preferred to the rule of man. We do not permit a man to rule but the law because a man rules in his own interest, and becomes a tyrant but the function of a rule is to be the guardian of the justice and, if justice then of equality." --Aristotle

I was ahead of The Onion on this.

I stand by what I said: If Rick Santorum says it, he believes it. Mitt Romney will say any damn thing to get elected. That is not Rick.

He "plays politics," of course, but he "plays politics" in the way 19th Century Congressmen did - he will vote against his conscience if it is politically expedient, but he will never publicly lie about his beliefs or lie about his votes. That last debate was a disaster for him, because he won't lie.

In a way, he is probably the most "honest" man to run for president since Jimmy Carter. I would respect him if I didn't find the stuff he believes to be reprehensible.

Romney is leading Alabama. If Romney can win both AL and MS; then it's over for both Newt and Ricky.

What remaining voters in the remaining primaries bother to come out; will just coalesce around Romney.

Romney is only leading because Newt and Santorum are so evenly competing in those states.

If Newt gets out, Romney gets trounced. At this point, if I were Santorum, I would offer Newt the VP slot out of sheer desperation.

Now there's a twosome Rick and Newt. It's hard to tell which one is more loony but all that info will come out for the general election, especially about Santorum, the ammunition is being held in abeyance until then if he gets the nomination. Newt's foibles will also be held up once again. Can't see independent, progressive, left women and the men who love them voting for these two.

That said, though, I agree. If Newt gets out, then Santorum wins those states. By big margins.

Newt isn't loony. He is a narcissistic dick but he isn't crazy; he is pretty savvy and knows how to game people and the system. Santorum, on the other hand, is bat**** insane. Anyway, neither of them would have a chance in hell in the general election. Doesn't matter though, as neither will be the nominee unless Romney drops out for some reason and I can't see him doing that even if a crazy clown (not Santorum...a different crazy clown; one in actual clown makeup) blew up everything he ever loved...that guy REALLY wants to be president.

Actually, I think that part of Newt's problem is that he does know the game so well.

I think he's been treating the voters like **** for so long, and not just getting away with it, but getting promoted for it, that he thinks he's invulnerable.

The idea that "santorum" has become a urban dictionary word is both hilarious and disturbing.

Don't look it up there, unless you have a strong stomache. It's not safe for work.

Actually, that doesn't really affect me, much.

I think it's a funny joke. But it certainly doesn't reflect on him.

(I think it reflects on Google. It demonstrates how easily manipulated it is.)
