Best wishes to Danny. I think he got a raw deal with Edsall who clearly didn't know how to take advantage of what a player already did well. I hope he does well and has a great career wherever he ends up.

Maryland Coach Randy Edsall would not release Danny O’Brien to transfer to Vanderbilt, according to individual familiar with the talks
What a pathetic state of affairs the Maryland football team is.
I knew Edsall was a horrible hire the minute I heard about it. He straight up looks phony, like a weak ass ra ra go team type coach. I doubt he has any fire in him. Letting Friedgen go was the worst mistake.

The departure of DOB is going to get the most media coverage of the three, and understandably so - the former ACC Rookie of the Year was the face of the program, and even after a tumultuous sophomore campaign there were still memories left of his 22 touchdown freshman year.
However, the biggest loss of the three is pretty clearly Garcia. While DOB has a battle-tested backup behind him in CJ Brown (who some were hoping would start anyway), Maryland has now lost both of its starting tackles (R.J. Dill transferred to Rutgers) and are now looking at a potential starting duo of injury-riddled Justin Gilbert and true freshman Mike Madaras. Maryland will likely have three Good Counsel true freshmen starting from day one, but that's an issue for another post.
What a prick Edsall is.
Why are you punishing O'Brein? Ralph gets fired, Edsall gets hired and wants to run an offense that Danny doesn't fit in. None of that is Danny's fault. Pathetic that a grown man can be that petty and spiteful. It's not like he's trying to transfer to a rival school, he just wants to succeed by going to Vandy to play for Franklin. Edsall is basically saying, "If you won't play here, **** you I don't want you to succeed in football."
Douchebag.
Honestly, I truly want a local reporter to really grill him on this. Make him give an explanation for why he wouldn't let Danny go to Vandy. There's absolutely no explanation for it other than "I'm a prick." The same guy that couldn't even call his players at UConn to tell them that he's leaving won't let Danny go where he wants. What an *******.
EDIT: If he wants to accuse Vandy of 'tampering' or whatever it's called, then do it. Otherwise let the kid go.

Good Counsel's Kendall Fuller is the #4 player in the class of 2013.
He has narrowed his schools to 8.
Virginia Tech, Florida St., Maryland, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan and Clemson.
Edit: He's a CB.

Saw this tidbit earlier on Twitter:
Like rats fleeing a burning ship.Stewart Mandel @slmandel
RT @D1scourse: That's 12 players to leave the program with eligibility remaining since the end of the season, 24 since Edsall took over.
I can't completely get worked up over Edsall blocking O'Brien from going to Vanderbilt. Franklin and Edsall apparently don't get along at all, and it's hard to know what's happened behind the scenes between those two (and O'Brien). Edsall is a pretty big clown, but this particular move isn't something to cite him for. It's pathetic enough that Edsall let things between himself and O'Brien deteriorate to the level of O'Brien choosing to transfer out of the program after one year, but who really knows about his decision to block O'Brien from going to Vandy.
And this leaves the Terps with CJ Brown as the likely starter? Yeesh. It's probably only a reasonably decent idea to drive out your former ACC Rookie of the Year QB if you have a solid long term back-up to replace him with, as well as a pretty strong overall team to help lean on.
So when do the rumors about Kevin Anderson stepping in to help buy out Edsall's contract start up again?
not anytime soon if the recruits start coming in. if danny obrien leaves, let him go. this program has to take a step back before it can go forward to become a powerhouse
Any stud Qb's or at least top 100 QB's considering MD in the 2013 class? Seems like a need that should be addressed in the next two recruiting classes.

Terps rise up team recruiting rankings after Stefon Diggs' commitment
Stefon Diggs' commitment to Maryland on Friday night gave the Terps their first five-star recruit since Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy offensive tackle Bruce Campbell signed with UM in 2007.
The Good Counsel wide receiver's pledge also vaulted the Terps' 2012 group up the national recruiting team rankings, giving the Terps a consensus Top 40 class.
Rivals.com had rated Maryland's class No. 49 in the country before Signing Day. With Diggs on board, the Terps are now listed at No. 35. 247Sports.com had UM pegged at No. 42 two weeks ago. Now the Terps check in at No. 35 on its 2012 team rankings. Scout.com, meanwhile, also lists Maryland as having the No. 35 class nationally, up from No. 44 on Signing Day.

We have two incoming Freshman that the staff is high on.
Caleb Rowe and Perry Hills.
I'll say it again, Maryland will rue the day they chickened out on Leach and decided to go for a mediocre Big East coach. Leach is miles better than Edsall.
All Edsall has done is just make everyone in this area mad.
For Maryland, this is a huge commitment and will certainly help recruiting in 2013 and beyond. Once considered out of the race for months, the hiring of Locksley was key. Many people nationally and even locally were stunned when rumors began to swirl Wednesday and Thursday that the Terps would win this battle. They wondered why a top 10 player nationally would choose a 2-10 football program on the rocks over SEC powers Florida and Auburn and Big Ten power Ohio State led by Meyer. Diggs has simple answers.
"I want to build something and I want others in Maryland to see this as a viable option," he said. "I want people to think that they can do special things at Maryland and hopefully I'm just the start."
