Meet The Prospects: Lexie Brown points to parents
Lexie Brown, a 5-foot-9 senior point guard at North Gwinnett (Ga.), is the No. 15 prospect in the 2013 class and a 2012 U18 gold medalist with USA Basketball. Brown, who is headed to Maryland for college ball, shares some of her secrets in this edition of “Meet the Prospects.”
Nickname: Downtown. It was given to me while playing AAU because of how many 3-pointers I would make in games.
Pick a number: I wear jersey No. 4 because my dad [current Detroit Pistons assistant coach and former NBA guard Dee Brown] wore No. 4 in college [at Jacksonville]. I always want to have a reminder of my dad while I am playing the game that he taught me to love.
Other than basketball, what is your favorite hobby? Dancing. I love to dance to make people laugh, I love dance classes, and I especially love to dance with my teammates.
If you could go one-on-one with anyone, who would it be? Len Bias. I watched his ESPN documentary, “Without Bias,” and it made me want to meet him or even see him play. He was said to have more potential than even Michael Jordan, and he was a Maryland Terp.
If you had to compare your game to a current college or pro player’s, whose would it be? Kristi Toliver of the Los Angeles Sparks. Kristi is a point guard that sometimes has a scorer’s mentality. Her 3-ball is deadly. I think I shoot well, but my reputation is not even close to hers … yet. She also attended the University of Maryland, where she won a national championship, and I hope to follow her footsteps when I get on Maryland’s campus.
Who is your role model? My parents. They are my biggest fans and harshest critics, but I wouldn’t be where I am right now without their tough love.
What is the most important thing basketball fans should know about you? Basketball is not who I am. It is just the sport I play, but I do put my whole heart into the game whenever I am on the court. I have so many goals when it comes to basketball, but I also have other goals unrelated to basketball that I would love to achieve.
What is your favorite basketball moment so far? Upsetting Norcross twice in the regular season my first year playing in Georgia [as a sophomore in 2010-11]. Hopefully, winning a state championship will be my new favorite basketball moment.
The King and I: LeBron James wishes he could … shoot 3’s as well as I can.

Man, MD put on a clinic in the second half. A game Rey should win, but Turgeon has a DEEP rotation this year. Based on how the Terps have started the year, anything less than a #2/3 seed in the ACC Tourney and a second weekend game in the NCAA tourney will be a disappointment.

I was ready to come here after the first half and talk about how overrated we are. Well, I'm glad they shut me up in the second half.![]()
Dez told those loser fans to shut the hell up. They can't handle a team South East of them.
Team looks great. A legit 10 man rotation. Wells is athletic as hell with speed and handles. Len is looking tremendous. Faust is improved, Mitchell is a beast, Howard running the point.....I could say something about every player. A lot of work to do, but signs point up.
This team can only improve. Gotta go to Len more. Wells looks like he could be a star this year.
What would A World Without Lawyers be like?
UNC has been exposed by Butler and Indiana. I don't think UNC is anywhere as good as they were projected to be. NC State is much like NC State always is -- overrated because thy play in NC. They have been exposed as well. FSU is raw. I don't know why they always start so slow. Duke is the clear cut #1 in the ACC now, and I think with the depth, length and size that MD has, there is no reason they can't be #2/3.

I see the Terps as a 2 seed this year, but I think they could be better as the year goes on also. They could sneak into the #1 seed.
Thanks for the sig LCSF
What would A World Without Lawyers be like?
The then #3 Wildcats...barely beat the UNRANKED Terps.
I would say they have faced a good team, and also think all of the NC teams are overrated.
The Terps could win this conference. And I think convincingly.
Thanks for the sig LCSF
