The Terps could win this conference. And I think convincingly.
In basketball a loss is a loss. Saying they loss by a little does not mean that much. Even if they had won, saying they might get a #1 seed is flat out funny.

But beating teams like Northwestern in your conference (UVA, Miami, Wake Forest, etc.) is the way teams make the tournament. A good team will beat the teams they need to beat.

And I think NW is better than those teams. I think they might actually make the tournament this year.

In the ACC, at least in most years (maybe not this year), if you can split the Duke/UNC games and beat up everyone else, you'd be in good shape. This Maryland team won't struggle with the lower tier teams in the conference as much as past years, and that's something to get excited about.

And these Terps are only going to get better this year.

Northwestern were undefeated and should make the tournament this season.

Its not a huge deal, but its a good win for our chances at making the tournament.

How about we play at least once conference game or beat one ranked team before we proclaim the greatness of Maryland Basketball this year...

I'm almost positive Northwestern was getting votes last week, I'm also thinking this win puts MD in the top 25.

Big 10 - ACC challenge went 6-6. In two years, we'll be rooting for the Big 10 to win.

And even if that were all true how does that equate to MD being a potential # seed???

They are just talking about where we're gonna finish in the ACC, not seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

You were saying beat a ranked team first, NWern is or was as close to being ranked as they could get, I think the win over NW puts them in the top 25 next week.

Solid win over a unbeaten team by 20 points on the road will draw some attention.

OK, and... do they really think that we are suddenly better than Duke, UNC, and NC State? Really...

Again, very very far from being a # 1 seed in the ACC or anywhere else based on that.

I must have missed the part where someone claimed the Terps were better than Duke or UNC anyway I think The Terps look solid and if they continue to play the way they are playing I think they will get a really nice seed in the dance this year.

NC State? Overated as usual. With the way they and CJ Leslie have played, they'll be lucky to get in the NIT.
