Default Josh Wilson Remarks in 2008

With JSteelz, LL, and TK recently doing an update on twitter, I found one our potential targets particularly interesting. It's been said that we could sing Josh Wilson as an alternative to Philip Buchanon, when free agency begins. A few people have brought up his name so I wasn't especially surprised. So I did some research, and I thought he was an ok corner, and a very solid nickle.

But I remembered after our playoff loss in 07-08 to the seahawks, a particular corner making some inflammatory remarks about the redskins. Let's just say the search button does wonders and you should be careful what you say.

Wilson's exact remarks that were posted on his facebook were:

Hail to the deadskins you failed on victory. We're moving on now while yall watch on TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    http://www.extremeskins.com/showthre...Seattle-Corner)

So he makes comments like this. But now that he's a free agent and he needs a paycheck, he may be interested in playing for the redskins?

The same guy that grew up a cowboy fan in D.C., (although others on our team have as well) .

The same guy who got into a fight with Santana Moss?

The same guy who shot his mouth off calling us the Deadskins, wants a contract from us?

I personally wouldn't pursue the guy...what are your thoughts?

I wouldn't put too much stock into it. Players switch allegiance to whomever is paying them a salary. In the main they don't have the same feeling as fans. It wouldn't surprise me to see him say similar about the Seahawks when we play them if he came here. That's the nature of the beast.

And he's Texas born, so I appreciate why he'd be a Cowboy fan, regardless of were he spent his childhood.

I'd gladly take him. At 26, he fits the rebuild dynamic we have going on perfectly.

    Hail.

*Edit* Good memory and research though man all the same. Kudos to you for that.

Solid cover guy, effectively quieted Andre Johnson when the Ravens played the Texans. Not too concerned about what his remarks were. We need an upgrade at corner. Barnes might be starting material, Buchanon is a good nickle/dime back. Westbrook isn't cutting it. Gomes is going to play both corner and safety. We need solid guys, not flashy. Wilson is that guy.

Sounds like you were a good Redskin fan, and he was a good Cowboy fan. Both hating the others team. The way it should be.

But when you play, as asinine as it sounds when your a fan, that allegiance goes at the expense of who's paying you. I'd have no doubt he'd give his all against Dallas if he was on the field in the B&G against them. Professionals put everything else aside and do just that. Be professional.

yeah his paycheck is definitly more important than if his favorite childhood team wins. plus becoming friends and like a family in a locker room would also be more important

Water under the bridge now. If he can come in and play as a nickle, etc. sign the dude up.

A better question is, if we do sign him, is he the starter or is Barnes?

Starts need to be earned, not given. And that would give us good young corner competition. Who said we weren't upgrading for the future?

Right now you would have to give it to Barnes, wouldn't you? He knows the system and has proven he can play in the NFL.

IMO, Josh is the better cover man.
