What player will there then be where someone wants to trade up for? We are always talking about trading up, down, going all around but it just doesn't happen al lot with top 10 picks (unless there is a QB, who we might need ourself).

Our best shot might be one of the 'Bama guys (Trent/Dre) but otherwise...I don't see it happen (not going to trade the pick when a guys like Claiborne or Blackmon is availble).

I think that this is a pretty good draft for corners, is there any chance we draft one in the 2nd?

I think it goes like this:
    1. Janoris Jenkins
    2. Alonzo Dennard
    3. Dre Kirkpatrick
    4. Morris Claiborne
    5. Jayron Hosely
Honorable mention: Hayward, Gilmore, that guy from Mississippi whose name escapes me

Morris Claiborne kinda looks like another overrated LSU DB to me, he has all the ball skill, vision, PR skills, but is not that great at coverage. Patrick Peterson is cut from the same cloth, he was horrendous in coverage this year and I fear Claiborne is the same, the interceptions and punt returns etc. are nice but I don't think the coverage skills are there for a top 5 selection. Janoris is easily the most talented DB in the draft, he shuts down whoever is playing opposite him including Julio and Alshon, he seems like a hot head and obviously has a few red flags in his record. Dennard is a great cover corner but not shut down like Jenkins is and probably not as good ball skills, and I think he's not the best tackler. Dre Kirkpatrick is pretty much same thing he is big physical corner which is definently a must for todays NFL, I hear he's not the best when covering the deep ball though.

It's random but I just think of these things and go here to right them down here, pretty much talking to myself, I have a lot of free time now a days.

Talk yesterday was that we are trying to keep hold of our 2nd this year, even if we trade up.

CB is a sure need. Hall could be in his last year, unless he restructures his contract, imo. I'd draft someone, either 2nd or 3rd round talent, to compete with Barnes, who is in his last year in 2012 as well.

I've been dissapointed with Barnes this year, certainly covering the slot guy - he gives up the inside release too easily and gets beaten across his face too often for me. He may be better outside than inside or he may just not be good enough full stop. Corner is certainly a need and I can see us taking one say 3rd round on but I expect the 1st and 2nd round picks to go offense one way or another.

I'm with you on Barnes. He may have blown his chance this year. I can see us going CB earlier in the draft if we still have the picks left. Paying for a true #1 in FA costs serious money. I think we'll try to get our own #1 guy via the draft, much cheaper & if a top talent slides out of the first round, I think we might jump at the top of the second. I'm now expecting two OL in FA.

Has anyone ever seen Ryan Tannehill lead a game winning drive?

I like Dre Kirkpatrick and Chase Minnifield a lot for our defense. Minnifield is a great zone corner and I love Kirkpatrick's size and tackling.

but can Minni jam at the line? i think we need one of those corners change up the game a little.. to many quick drops and slants and giving up quick 7 yard passes.. takes orakpo and kerrigan out of the game.

Vs K State, multiple times that game, not that it materialized for the "win." Of course one where Fuller dropped the ball (which bullied his hands) on the 2 pt conversion. The ball had its way with Fuller's hands and still hasn't returned any phone calls. Pretty sure that game was won if the TE (name?) catches a pass for a TD earlier on or any number of the various drops that day by the WRs.

I don't think that example clears the air, however, just the first thing that popped into my head. But, I do understand what you are saying, valid point.

I'm worried about him. He had a very average season, very disappointing and something I find very troubling is stoops is taking the ball out his hand more and more. That is a bad sign espec going into next season. The QB they have running the ball is doing a great job but the offense is totally different than it was last year when Broyles and Landry were on fire. If he regresses another season is stock is shot.

I think if he entered the draft he'd still be a 2nd rounder. I'm not sure if that wouldn't be his best option at this point. I wouldn't take him with a 1st but he's still prob the 4th or 5th best QB in a good class.

How would everybody feel about Landry Jones in the second if that ended up happening?

If he's this year's Ryan Mallet and we can get him in the 3rd, I'd be all for it.

Though I can't imagine we'll wait that long to draft a QB. And wouldn't really feel great staking the future of our franchise on him

    Sorry, could not resist.

I think Landry Jones is going back to school, but if not, I would much rather have Tannehill in the second round ( yes, I still think he goes in round two).
Get Blackmon in the first round and Tannehill in the second.
Of course that is if RGIII does not declare, and we have no shot at Luck.

I could list possible teams and players they could target, but that would just be guesswork. But last year we decided to trade down and did, what? 5 times? The Pats set out to trade down in every draft and do it multiple times per year. It seems any team that is motivated to trade down can do it virtually at will, and yet people talk about the possibility of trading down as if it's virtually impossible.
