I had thoughts about moving it more than once, and it can happen any time, but the other guys (and frankly a lot of PMs) have persuaded me otherwise so far. Once an irate "victim" gets them rolling, this kind of thread, like the "my special avatar" one, is correctly identified as traditionally (since before I and most staff even joined the site) being major entertainment for most of the membership, especially during slow news times. Anyone who reads these threads sees how many people are finding it fun, even in all its weirdness.

I see plenty of sad, stupid, or worse, in most (not all) of what such “victims” post in these crusades to right injustice and get "that ****ing mod and **** that message board", or with just the plain old headcase spazz-outs. But others see plenty of humorously pretentious and silly message board rants of the garden variety, and they find it all highly amusing. I think many members here might have enjoyed the Roman coliseums back in the day.

I know it's wrong, but the only thing I thought of when I read BigMike's post was this...

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to respond to that without you just banning me - because if I posted like you just did I'd be breaking the rules. I'm sure you and others are hive-fiving in the admin forums over it. The baiting tactic is lame, especially for a moderator.

I didn't say half the things you just claim I said, but why should that matter. This is a text book example of what I'm talking about. I suppose you're right though, it's me that's self absorbed.
    "hive-fiving", eh?

And Zoony says your posts aren't amusing even by accident. Well played, tshile!

Just makes me recall how upset he was about all the "Rage" tags...when they were obviously well deserved and documented outbursts, beyond reasonable comprehension or demeanor for people without rage issues themselves.

Mike...get over it at this point, you're a supposed adult. It's been years.

    Thanks for the sig LCSF

    Yes and no

And the funny thing is that the whole "BigMike full of rage" stuff started out as people just kidding and joking around with him in the TG IIRC. Apparently, he took it to heart, and we all soon found out he really did have some serious rage issues as he basically proved by making that gem of a drive by post lol.

I don't get the hate, not just from BigMike, but from a lot of banned members (or members who have chosen to "move on"). If you don't like ES, then LEAVE! They claim there are other MB's out there, so why is it necessary to continue to come back just to post idiotic, insulting crap? Apparently ES meant a lot more to them than they're willing to openly admit otherwise, like a normal person would do, they'd just "move on" like they so frequently mention and not look back!

Not that anyone cares about what my opinion is on the matter, but rage filled banned/personally have chosen to "move on" peeps should just let it go. To get that upset over something so silly (in the grand scheme of things-specifically LIFE) is just silly.

Been here a good few years now and I have never had a problem with another poster or a MOD. The pub analogy is a good one - treat someone with the same respect you would face to face having a drink, keep a sense of humor handy and don't take yourself or anything anyone says too seriously. If someone does cross the line walk away and just keep a sense of perspective.

I don't think it's that hard - just treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.
For sure, but certainly if you were having a bad day, just acknowledge it at some point, settle up and move on- or just move on if you can't settle up nice like.

Yep - we all have bad days and say things we regret. Be an adult, hold up your hand and move on.

Wow, this thread really took off. I was down in Florida for a funeral so I couldn't keep up over the weekend, but cam back to a feast of insanity.

I think one thing that throws people, is the concept of "penalties". I have been on the internet since basically, well, there was an internet, and this is the first board I have ever seen with that notion. Either you say something out of bounds and get banned, or you don't. The whole running tally thing is definitely a statistical outlier, and I think folks have trouble adjusting. I have modded and actually owned various sites, so I have a bit of experience with it.

Secondly, I think a lot of the stuff in this thread was definitely "suicide by posting". I mean, nobody rationally spews that kinda crap.

My only interactions with a mod were with Jumbo, and he was plenty fair and helpful to me, so I don't know where the hate on him comes from. I do think the tone of some of the mods is a little off, but hey, they are people, and they are doing a thankless job, so whatever.

Well, all you have to do is read through this thread and the "head up my ass avatar" thread and you'll see the conglomerate of stupid that they have to deal with. I think my tone might be a little off too if I had to deal with that crap on a consistent basis.

The interwebs is definitely a bastion of dumb, that's for sure. But it's part and parcel of the job as a mod (and I don't know why anyone would possibly want to do it! )

I nearly closed this one down as soon as it was bumped. The other thread was still alive and kicking,(almost literally),and I really didn't feel the need for two,(okay. So. The "need" for either one wasn't there),but left them both open. Knowing full well what would happen. And it did and continues to do so. I despise banning people. Especially fellow Redskins fans. How tragic is it that? And why? Because many can't even follow what really amount to a few rules. I don't buy in to this whole oppressive bull**** thing with them either. Avoiding board clutter, copyright issues, and most importantly, maintaining a bit of civility. Just like real life. Just that simple. Yet the banned list is full of those who can't even do that. Yet it's my fault when I enforce those rules? Please. Anyway. As much I despise threads like this and continue to fight the temptation to close it as well,I would just as soon let folks "air it out." Let us know how you feel if you must and we'll do the rest. Which is lame and pathetic as well. Don't like the place or some here? Leave. Be all growed up and simply walk away. If it really is that bad, then it shouldn't be all that hard to do. Just like real life.
