Just fyi, when I use the word "penalties", I refer to the fact we have sanctions other than bans (which are also of various lengths, depending) that may be in play. Getting a No New Threads designation, or losing your signature privileges, or being restricted form certain forums, etc. are examples. Also, though it keeps getting repeated in posts and PMs by the few reading-comprehension challenged and "mad" biased folks that mods "can't admit they're ever wrong", I routinely admit that very thing (even have in these very threads), am known for posting such to those paying attention and without a mentally fixated ax to grind.

The mods are very open about being fully human (durr), but we also point out we have the right to post in the same spirit as anyone else. Some of the guys giving us grief for being harsh or blunt with them or others (even when it's within the rules) are well-documented as frequently being very dickish themselves (and actually violating rules) but they want us to be "ever above the fray."

"Ever above the fray" is one choice for any member, mod or otherwise, and it's fine. I choose not to feel obliged to be "nice" or "turn the other cheek" all the time. The few major complainers here also appear to want others to have behavioral standards far beyond the ones they hold. The lack of their own accountability, distorted perceptions, selective vision, false claims, and hypocritical thinking as often featured in these donnybrooks , only move from laughable to "sad" when they really start to froth or seriously bend the reality of "things that happened."

But of course there really are mod mistakes or mod judgments/behaviors (mine or anyone's) that could have been better, and no one on this staff denies that----I will deny it when some problem child who isn't describing a case like that (or isn't even close) wants to claim such and then act out like a child, or an *******, or a total whacko.

I don't get the hate, not just from BigMike, but from a lot of banned members (or members who have chosen to "move on"). If you don't like ES, then LEAVE! They claim there are other MB's out there, so why is it necessary to continue to come back just to post idiotic, insulting crap? Apparently ES meant a lot more to them than they're willing to openly admit otherwise, like a normal person would do, they'd just "move on" like they so frequently mention and not look back.

I don't get that, either. You won't see me going back to the AOL or TSN message boards to flame them and brag about how good ES is. (Not sure those places even exist anymore but you get the point.)

It's interesting that they never mention WHICH board is better. It's like a guy who got dumped and has to brag that his new girlfriend is better.

To you and PCS, any other offended MOD, I apologize as the bumper. I thought it was needed to show the history of the OP and his opinions of ES. I think sometimes a wash like this is needed to flush out the true feelings. You can't make everyone happy, you can only be cool and be happy yourself, don't sweat the ijits.

I agree that these exercises serve a purpose, just an enema for the body politic that apparently was wayy overdue.

Eh, I don't get it personally. I've had two vacations in my time here and I earned them both. I had both sentenced commuted to some degree with a PM and a conversation. It's not rocket science. Regarding other boards and options...yes, they're out there. And while I enjoy this board, it's not so important to me that my life would be irreparably harmed if I no longer had access to it. But I do enjoy it, which is why I make an attempt to be at least borderline civil in my interactions here. And Lord knows that's difficult, especially on game days.

Point is, this site shouldn't be a dominant part of your life, but as long as you enjoy yourself like I do, make an effort to behave. It isn't that hard.

Wow, this thread really took off. I was down in Florida for a funeral so I couldn't keep up over the weekend, but cam back to a feast of insanity.

I have no reason to quote this other than to tell you that I'm appropriateing "Feast of Insanity" for use in other parts of my life. I don't know why, but that saying just hit me. What a gem. I'll pair it with some of my other favorites like "Cacophony of stupid" and "stop drinking from the barrel of dip****"

I agree on that.

I have been here since the beginning when the board first opened. Followed Art here from the TSN message boards when he gave me the adress for this place.

I never felt the need to go back to those boards and say 'The board I am at now is so much better... your board sucks.. you suck.. so long, jerks.'

I mean, the TSN board DID suck which is why this place was created.. However, I never felt the need to go back there and say so. I just never went back there after I started coming here.

I live in Tampa and when we played the Bucs my Sunday Ticket was blacked out so I had to watch a stream online. I was struggling with a 200kb stream that was constantly skipping and there was a play where the ball was hiked and then the play skipped to the very end and then normalized. Once the video came back Josh Morgan's back was to the camera and the commentator said "looks like there is a flag for clipping". So I posted on the game day thread "was that Morgan with the clip". Now the game day thread seems to be more of a response thread where we vent or celebrate or discuss how we can't bear to watch the next play.

Now Jumbo decided that he was going to publicly berate me by saying "your about as smart as your posts" or something to that effect. Now was the post ground breaking, was it informative, no it wasn't I was just trying to watch my team and interact with the board and I was stunned a mod would say something like that. By no means was I ever a trouble maker and I had never been banned or flagged by the mods but I'm not ok with someone berating me for no reason so I told him to "kiss my ass" and he banned me for 30 days.

What bugs me about any mod who over mods a site is when they can dish it out but can't take it in return. I never had any issues with any mod or anyone on the site and I don't attack people. Unless you're signing my paychecks I doubt I will listen to anyone call me an idiot or stupid without responding.

I e-mailed the mods to complain after the ban and of course Jumbo was the one who e-mailed me back and what he said was "You know you're a rock star" or something similar to that so basically he wasn't willing to discuss it. I would still like to know why the personal attack. My posts weren't stupid, I only made one thread and it was concerning the list released of average age of each team and how the Skins had moved the needle and now were in the middle of the pack on average age instead of one of the older teams in the league. The game day thread I do use to vent but I don't see that being different for anyone else who posts on those threads.

I like the site, I still come here even though I insisted Jumbo delete my account in which he instead gave me a permanent ban. I like to read the threads and articles and look for breaking news like in the situations we recently had with Roberts injury. I didn't post today to call Jumbo a self gratifying know it all who seems to be on a power trip but instead I just want to know why it had to go down like it did Jumbo?
