Well, you did suggest bringing in Cooley to kick earlier in that thread...
Other gems:
"Kiss my ass, Im watching a crappy stream because Im in Tampa. "
"Is that Morgan with another dumb penalty?" (The penalty was on Montgomery, who, no matter what stream you're watching looks NOTHING like Morgan)
"Screw this game, another worthless year of Redskins football. Now our rookie Qb has lost his confidence and he looks like Rex Grossman."
"Forget about Peyton Manning, one of the most over rated Qb's of all time who has a losing record of 9-10 in playoff games and besides that has an abnormally large head."
"This Gracon situation is getting on my nerves, if he doesnt play this week I officially look at him as a skirtboy"
"Im probably the minority here but I never looked at Rak as an impact player when it comes to rushing the passer. "
"Can we waterboard him on live tv, just kidding." (This was in reference to Josh Morgan, who you thought had the penalty in the thread that netted you mod action. I'd guess that they saw that you had some kind of agenda. I'm not sure how one can confuse Morgan with Montgomery, who the penalty was actually on)

Follow me @KDawg_ES on Twitter. It's a bundle of X's, O's and Laughs. Both at me and with me
"You're about as smart as your posts" seems like the appropriate (and logical conclusion to come to) response to the above posts

Yeah when you add in tone, context, and word choice (along with other examples of posts by the same person) it really does seem like "You're about as smart as your posts" was pretty spot on in this situation.
I do like to at least try to use these threads as teachable moments for much of the membership (which is what I'm really about in my own posts here, and not "defending myself"---I don't feel threatened).
Given my profession, I'd think odd cognition in people would hold little surprise for me, but I am still left amazed by the number of folks (mercifully small percentage that it really is) that have the struggles they have in understanding pretty simple and normal events. Including after having them explained to them.
It's not simple disagreement with some action that I refer to, it's seemingly an alternate-reality experience or a complete lack of connection to what they were told. As though competent comprehension (again, whether one agreed with a judgment or not) never took root.
Let's take the guy ("Sam I Am") on the previous page, who had to return and register another account to do his pookie dance after asking to delete his account (as he noted in his post).
I'll use relevant excepts for his post on the preceding page.
"Sam" had been making a few (benefit of the doubt) of the kinds of posts (whether whiny/bitchy or wtf? kind of things doesn't matter really) that many members give each other flack about regularly with no problem. So that's the backdrop (and a common one)---there's previous "noise" before someone says something. So I posted on the game day thread "was that Morgan with the clip". Now the game day thread seems to be more of a response thread where we vent or celebrate or discuss how we can't bear to watch the next play.
Now Jumbo decided that he was going to publicly berate me by saying "your about as smart as your posts" or something to that effect.
So here's what Sam (jschuck12001) actually said (not "was that Morgan with the clip") :
http://www.extremeskins.com/showthre...26#post9178326
Sam referring to Morgan's months-old "dumb penalty." Not a rule violation, obviously, but didn't see the play yet often has that "kind" of comment.Originally Posted by jschuck12001

My reply (which was not as Sam says "your about as smart as your posts"), and which any member could make any time in this context, with absolutely no concern rules-wise:
Not a warm and fuzzy response, but perfectly fine, sincere, meant, and supportable. Now this is all in rule 5, and it is what we talk about being potentially risky for some folks who need to use care that they stay within how that rule is written when they're going to be harsh on comments they think deserve it.no. is that you with another dumbass post?
Now other than a potential "nyah nyah" back and forth there's still no rules issues. And asking if it was "another dumbass post" is not at all the same what Sam claimed. Mine refers to a post and Sam is claiming it refers to him as a person and also infers all his posts. Those differences matter quite a bit. I assume by his words here that what he "heard" in his head.
So Sam does what he says (tells me to kiss his ass).
http://www.extremeskins.com/showthre...=1#post9178366
Now personally, I think that's a fairly normal reply for some internet posters. I even will let something like that go depending on "whatever" (it's a mod's discretion). But there were so many other "feisty" comebacks he could have made without any issue. And trying to moderate the gameday thread doesn't leave a lot of room for allowing members to tell you to simply kiss their ass.
So I gave Sam/shuck a temporary ban (30 day) appropriate to the reply. Later, when I had time to review the user history of people who received an action (which we often do to see if there's slack to be cut or a recurring problem to be noticed), I saw his history allowed for leniency and I was going to make it 2 weeks. The I saw TK posted this e-mail from him in his notes:
This is for Jumbo who banned me, you made a personal attack by saying all my posts we stupid and I told you o kiss my ass which you deserved. My posts aren't stupid and I could pull up many relative points I try to make. I think you should ban yourself as well for saying something stupid that caused a reaction. Did you really think you can just insult people because your a Mod. LOL
So if you've been able to get the context of this so far, I read this e-mail, and the stuff about "personal attack", how I "deserved" what I got (no prob, so did he) and really just the whole thing, and frankly I think "ok, he's pretty clueless", and I replied "you're a rock star" and just leave things as they sit. Now for the record, had it been me, I'd have gone more like this:
"Hey, I can see my "kiss my ass" thing was not a good move, but I took what you said personal and would like to talk about it and my ban. I have had no problems before and am sorry about the "ass" thing, but got pissed by what you said and was in game-mode, and wonder if I can have my ban reconsidered or at least lowered from 30 days. I love this site!" That kind of thing will work wonders with us unless the person has a long history of problems.
Then soon after he sent this e-mail:
I would like you to delete my account from extremeskins.
Thanks
So...what is your major malfunction now, Sam? Your account was banned ("deleted") as you asked. And here you are again. Well, since you are, let's look at some more of your comments in your "Sam I Return" post.
Yes, the forums are flooded with evidence of that...except...well, no...it's much more the opposite. Imagine that. What bugs me about any mod who over mods a site is when they can dish it out but can't take it in return.
If it still hasn't sunk in, how about the fact that there never was one.I would still like to know why the personal attack.
The things you're thinking about and commenting on are so removed from the simple and pertinent stuff in all this and I really do have a little "wow" about it.My posts weren't stupid, I only made one thread and it was concerning the list released of average age of each team and how the Skins had moved the needle and now were in the middle of the pack on average age instead of one of the older teams in the league.
Cripes, it's the SAME thing. "Account banned by member's request."I still come here even though I insisted Jumbo delete my account in which he instead gave me a permanent ban.
Really? Then why put it in there?I didn't post today to call Jumbo a self gratifying know it all who seems to be on a power trip![]()
I am saying this next as an observation, not as an insult, and I mean it in general, but the mental stuff in so many of these "issues"---and I don't just mean garden variety "crazy" or "oppositional-defiant" or "paranoid" or "angry man" issues etc., I also mean things like general intelligence, adequate comprehension, emotional balance, and the like, seem to be a regular player.
This was a simple temp ban for telling a mod to "kiss my ass" (which is fine if that's what you "have" to do--tell the mod off, take the ban, and return). Or, e-mail and intelligently ask for a friendly dialogue (even if YOU have to be the one to take "the high road" <gasp!!!>) to try and remedy a situation..![]()

"Captain, it's a viewpoint--not one of ours! We're under attack!"
"I see it, ensign! Engage amygdala! Transfer all power from frontal lobes!
Suspend critical thinking field! Go to course heading of reflexive response 101 at full bias!
Now!'Enter' at will!"
"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so."
So I'm reading this thread. And it's like a train wreck with fire and smoke and bodies littering the tracks. Think train wreck scene in The Fugitive with Harrison Ford. And yeah, it's a little depressing, but I'm still reading...
Then I get to the end and go back to the front page of the stadium to see what else is going on. Still feeling a little depressed.
And then I see the thread from the Giants fan who's missing his buddy (uncle?) who was a Redskins fan. And my sense of community and good feelings about this group of fans was restorred!
Life is too short for too much bull****. The ESers who offered their condolences with their kind and encouraging words to the Giants fan are the types of members that I'm proud to be associated with. And they're the kind of members who make up the bulk of the membership of this board.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
Well said, LBF.

I giggle at the idea that the mods favor anyone. The people they favor are the ones that don't break the rules. They don't give awhat your opinions are, just how you present them.
I should know. I've had my posting privileges suspended several times, and my opinions are always insightful and substantively brilliant and cannot be gainsayed by mortal man. Meanwhile, twa has never been suspended once, and he has the opinions of a brain-damaged baboon.
damn I hope he is following this thread![]()

"The Internet is like a herd of performing elephants with diarrhea: massive, difficult to redirect, awe-inspiring, entertaining, and a source of mind-boggling amounts of excrement when you least expect it" - I wish I had said this.
