I'd again like to make the argument that, in a stadium of nearly 80,000 people, what may appear to be "loud" in the stadium does not come across as such on TV. I do think the closer we get to the end zone, the crowd certainly start to buzz now, but it sounds nothing like it does when the defense is on the field.

I agree. I go to every game, and the idiots who are loud on offense are not even close to as loud as the fans who are loud on defense.

And yes, I've also been to a few dozen games at other stadiums, and those fans are much worse than ours.

The interesting thing to me was that this past game when people started chanting "Let's go Redskins", who was on the sideline encouraging them to chant this? None other than probably the smartest person on this team: Oshiomogho Atogwe.

    That was weird.

Had you not began the next part with
And one more example of how ignorant our fans are.....
Or any other wording to indicate that we really aren't the dumbest fans, then your post could have been interpreted by - the act of making noise while the offense is at work is a call to attention that it makes us seem dumb.

But you did...and didn't include any other wording so....how exactly do you expect people not to take your post literally?

    The second part is just....dumb.....anyway.
When the band strikes up HTTR, hardly anyone sings the words. But when the video version comes on the screen, everyone is karoaking and the song is incredibly loud because everyone is singing along. Again, the energy and enthusiasm is there; they just do not know when to be loud and need to learn the words to our fight song.
So, they play the words on the screen after touchdowns. I can't recall if they do it or not for FGs, but I know the band still plays.
Touchdowns tend to be a tad more exciting than FGs. Could that not be the reason why there's more excitment?
Also, before they starting showing the words on the screen, people DID sing. I honestly can't think of one time where after a TD the words were not sung loudly. I don't know, maybe you've experienced that when we were getting blown out or something....

I dont know all the words to it. Maybe b/c u cant really hear it while wathcing the game from home....or maybe for the idk 15-16 years we haven't been scoring very much? IDK.

But i guess if people are spending $100's of dollars to see the game they can do whatever they want. But they should be quiet when the O is out there.
lol come to the Redskins bar in Albany...I'll teach ya the words. We sing it after each win.

You think a lot of people don't know the fight song now? Just wait till this team starts winning on a regular basis...

Completely agree, tho to be fair, the stadium usually quiets down right before the Redskins snap the ball.

What really infuriates me is when people sitting in front of me stand up to enter or exit their row right when a play is about to begin. It has happened countless times over these two games and I think the ushers are powerless, b/c of how quick most plays go and I sit in Row 20 and it takes a while to get up there. Still, I have a feeling that I'm going to get into an altercation over this before the season is over.

Ugh I hate that so much!!! It is Oh not O. Francis Scott Key was not thinking about the Orioles when he penned the Star Spangled Banner. But I am willing to accept it at Orioles games, because it is their shtick (and God knows they need something). But at Ravens, Redskins, and Nats games, it is stupid and irreverent to the national anthem.

Remember the NFL Films account of SB 22? "By the end of the 2nd quarter, everyone in the stadium had memorized the words to 'Hail to the Redskins'"

I totally agree that the stadium got quiet before the snap on Sunday.

Since this thread is about loud, we have a tradition of banging our empty aluminum beer bottles against the seats when the Redskins are on defense and it is third down. No more. 5, yes 5, security dudes came to our section looking for the guys banging the beer bottles. Luckily no one in our section ratted us out.

    1. So what.
    2. You chose to spend your money
    3. You don't play for the Redskins. You shouldn't be bothered with what people say about a team you like, as long as you enjoy watching them play.
    4. Defense, make as much noise as you can. There's no excuses for false starts at home.
    5. You and how many of your friends?
    6. Not an excuse to be a moron and inconsiderate towards people around you.
    7. Alcohol is for the weak.

I'll let you know first hand, no I don't like it. Your reasons of being a rowdy fan is BS.
