The ONLY way the Shanny will trade up for a QB is if he thinks we are set at the other positions, and can fill our holes by FA. So lets think about our holes...

QB - Obviously need an upgrade. HUGE hole.
RB - We're set with 3 pretty decent backs and Royster on the PS
WR - We need a true #1. IMO, this needs to be achieved through FA (Jackson, Bowe). Drafted WRs need time to learn the game unless they are a top pick
TE - If Davis is resigned and Cooley can be restructured then we're set. If not, one can be drafted in the later rounds
OL - They have played pretty well. We could always use depth or maybe a new interior starter, but this can be acheived through FA or late round picks
DL - Pretty solid group with good depth, Jenkins back next year will just add to the depth
LB - OLB we're set with solid depth too. We could use a ILB to either start in Rockys place if he is not resigned or to sit and learn under Fletcher until its his turn.
S - After we resign Landry, we're set with pretty decent depth
CB - 2 solid starters with solid depth. You may argue that another solid CB couldn't hurt but, but that could be acheived through FA and Thompson is on PS with potential.

All that said, we have 3 glaring needs for next year. QB, ILB, WR and OL to an extent. Of those, I believe WR needs to be adressed through FA, we need a guy to come in right away and produce. OL can also be adressed through FA or mid round draft picks. ILB probably would need to be adressed through the draft, unless a 3-4 ILB hits the market. QB is the last hole. IMO since all these other holes are likely to be adressed through FA or mid/late picks, I could REALISTICALLY seeing a trade up to land one of the top QBs.

Now what would it take? A 1 and 2 this year and next year? Then you can draft a ILB with your 3rd rounder and OL depth with the rest. We honestly dont have as many holes on this team as people think, and I think a trade up to land a top QB could be a smart move
Love the analysis and agree completely. Bowe could be a solid FA for us. He's a legit talent, young enough that we could give him a respectable contract without paying him a ton when he's old, and would give us a clear #1 with Moss in the slot and a deep threat on the outside.

If that happens, I can see us trading up to grab Jones. The Chiefs are paying Cassel $10M/season through 2014. I don't see them drafting a QB right now when they can be a good team when healthy.

If we can do both of those, no reason we can't pick up offensive line help, an ILB, and CB depth in the mid to late rounds.

Very good format... Love the pics of the players and text is readable...

    Interesting picks...

Tough as to who we need. We'll have Jenkins back at DE next season. Rocky Mc is playing great as is London Fletcher. I don't see Fletcher leaving unless he retires. He's the heartbeat of the defense and don't see another team offering him a big-time contract. We may offer him a 1-2 year deal depending on what he wants to do. Rocky is absolutely justifying himself staying.

We could use OL for sure though.

Vinny Cerrato believes he gave Jim Zorn a roster that can make the playoffs. A playoff kicker doesn't miss that kick. A playoff safety doesn't bite multiple times by a double move in the same game.

Thanks for posting this. Obviously things will change between now and April but it's nice to start getting acquainted with some of the top prospects.

It may not be the Redskins choice.
We're way under in terms of the cap. We can afford him.

We don't have a two QB system.
    We have a third-string quarterback?

Interesting how you still have Barkley so high, and no RGIII in the first.

    Hail.

I think an NFL team should have a general rule that you must strongly look at DL in the first two rounds of the draft.

I'm down with spending a 1st or 2nd on DL every year.
Eli Manning will be 31 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Michael Vick will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
Tony Romo will be 32 years old when the 2012 season starts.
ROBERT GRIFFIN III will be 22 years old when the 2012 season starts.

I think Landry Jones will fall a lot further than people think. His grade is sure to decrease b/c he is not that impressive.

    Round 2-Justin Hunter WR
    Round 3-DJ Swearinger S
    Round 4-Blidi Wreh-Wilson CB
    Round 5-Kerwynn Williams RB
    Round 5-Ace Sanders WR
    Round 6-Damion Stafford S
    Round 7-Chris Thompson RB

I'm with you in principle to an extent, but with the front 3 being 27, and two great looking draft picks this year in Jenkins and Neild, I'd be disappointed if we went down the same road next year ahead of more pressing positions of need.

I actually think next years draft will be offense heavy, snagging us our QB and big play wide-out along with better linemen so the O can compliment the D and take us on to that next step in 2012.

    Hail.

I say go and get Flynn. He's young and he proved atleast for one game he can play in this league.

This is kinda silly right now don't you think? Four games into the NFL season, and not many more into the college season...

Agreed. I did appreciate the way it was presented. When both college and NFL seasons are over I would love to see the updated version.
