Thumbs Up Kudos to all the Skins fans who took over Charlotte on Sunday!

My apologies for beating a dead horse, but it made me so proud to watch the game on TV and see the sea of burgundy and gold in the stands at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday. Kudos to all in attendance, many of whom traveled far at great personal expense!

After years of getting so much flak for the number of Cowboys, Eagles, and Steelers jerseys present for home games at FedEx, it really warmed my heart to see Skins fans do the same to another team. Despite all the self flagellation here, we undoubtedly THE BEST fanbase in the entire NFL! Do you think Eagles, Steelers, Cowboys, or Giants fans would travel in the numbers they do if their franchises had sucked for the past 20 years? No f-ing way! The resiliency of Skins fans is truly astounding. We could suck for another 20 years and it wouldn't matter. The only franchise in pro sports that I can compare Skins fans to is the Red Sox fans pre-2004. The burgundy and gold flows through the blood of everyone in the DMV. It unites us and binds us, whether black or white, Democrat or Republican, DC native or transplant.

If last Sunday is any indication, you can imagine what would happen if the Skins go on a Patriots like run of Super Bowls in the next 10 years? Holy crap, it would be tough for home team fans to get tickets whenever the Skins came to town.

If we survived the last 20 years of futility and Snyder's meddling, we can survive anything. The only way to go is up, and I can't wait for the day when every team complains about the influx of Skins fans in their Stadiums.

    Hail.

Was very neat seeing all that burgundy and gold in the stadium. Though I admit, I cursed our fan base when I heard that god forsaken horrible "OOOOOOOO" during the National Anthem.

Well actually....I have a feeling that Steelers fans would travel in large numbers regardless of how bad their team was, that's a pretty die hard city. We just can't be sure because they've been good for so damned long.

I do find it interesting that people ***** about how the Steelers took over FedEx but are quick to congratulate our own fanbase when we do so to another team. Sure, I understand the pride of the accomplishment, but it just seems odd to me that you (the general you) would then turn around and complain when the shoe is on the other foot. Personally, while I don't like having so many opposing fans in FedEx, it does give me more people to heckle when we actually win

The guys we were sitting next to told me they'd never seen a takeover like we had. Even with the Packers in town they hadn't....

I'll have to send you the Larry Michael one when it gets posted

We were out front at the pep rally and Pete is asleep/slumped over in a chair. Larry Michael comes out and says something along the lines of, "That guy looks rough". I asked him if he could take a picture of him so he has some sort of memory of it. Michael was cracking up, and he took the picture. I have a blurry version of it, but there's a better one out there.

I saw the blurry pic on your FB and I believe he has the less blurry version on his FB.

That pic should be put in the dictionary under Epic

I was watching on tv, heard the cheers, saw our colors overrunning the stands and I was filled with pride.

Off topic (sort of): But why do people pay hard-earned money to go to a game (especially a road game) and then spend half of it, drunk? Never understood this at all. Why even go to a game if you're not even gonna remember it? Seems like a waste of time to me.

And I second what the original poster wrote. I, too, had so much pride watching that game and seeing all of our colors represented. Living here, it gave me more pride than most, as I was able to rub it in to all the loser Panther fans. Unfortunately, that was about the only thing I could say to them this week.

I was there. It was my third time in the stadium and I have to say the worst time I ever had. So much bravado before, during and after the game by Panther fans whose team was 1-5 coming in. And for a fanbase who is so blase about their team. They don't sell out and the tickets were easy to get. I think next time we come here, I'll just watch at home. The Panthers have to go to DC next year, so let's not be like them and treat their fans with respect when they come into our stadium. I had my 8 year old great nephew and my 62 year old mother and the 3 of us were treated like ****, to the point that my nephew was crying and wanted to go home in the 2nd quarter, no matter how many times I went to security.

We stayed for the whole game and things calmed down up until the end. As always, it's alcohol involved. People just drinking way too much and having liquid courage. I made my nephew laugh when I told him their mascot was fat. Surr Purr is a Fat Cat. He was all decked out in Redskins gear from head to toe. But, my mom has season tickets at Fed Ex and he goes with her a few times a year, so we'll get him back in the home stadium the next time.
