Do you decorate for Halloween?

Frosty, that's really cool.
I like people who take the time, and when my son was little enough to go trick or treating it sure made for a lot of fun o go to those houses. Folks like Frosty who do this for the kids.. always good in my book.

In my neighborhood we don't get trick or treaters. I swear in 20+ years I've maybe had a dozen. There really wouldn't be much point to me decorating.
I'll buy a small bag of candy, and we'll eat almost all of it ourselves. The one or two kids who do show up love it, because they usually get a half a dozen reeses cups each.

It's because of the waste of energy and dollar store plastic crap that ends up in the trash, but the cat house thing was really funny. Halloween is no Christmas when it comes to short sighted feel good wastefulness, but it's close.

That said, there are a lot of really green minded folks and artists around here and they do some amazing things to decorate, without being wasteful and I love that.

I like carving pumpkins myself and love that.

but i agree on the extra unnecessary crap, we will be doing pumpkins this year because my daughter is now old enough to help. i'd assume if we got any more into it, it would proabably be stuff we would pack away and not toss out....oh yeah, and candy.

We used to get about 20 maybe 30 kids a year. Last year was the first time decorating like this and it was my 6 yr old wanted to. We had over 120 kids last year!! Our neighbors still just had the 20-30 range.

There used to be a guy who lived in our court that had AWESOME Halloween stuff....coffins and all that. Halloween was awesome back in the day.

Me? I don't really like spending money on decorations, mainly because I'm too lazy to put them away after the holiday.

We used to decorate til we went to college. Carved pumpkins, cobwebs, witches, ghosts, tombstones...not super out there like we did for Christmas, but more than just pumpkins. Now my parents just do fall decorations. My roomie and I wanted to decorate this year but just didn't have time We barely had time to do costumes; we just threw outfits together tonight.

I love going to haunted houses though and love looking at decorations.

When I was little there was a couple like this in our neighborhood that would elaborately decorate their house inside and out. The woman would dress as Elvira, and her husband would dress as a Mummy. They would invite us into their house briefly to have punch from their "witches cauldron" and snack on baked goods.
They were nice, almost too nice in a creepy way and I don't think they ever had children. I remember my friends and I feeling like we were going to wake up in their basement chained to the walls.
Ahh the days of trick or treating without the parents around. Sad that kids don't have that freedom now.
