Besides, what happens if Beck catches fire and looks very impressive; even considering looking at another qb will cause more disruption within the team that it will start another 1/2 & 1/2 scenario, some wanting Beck and some wanting another.
The only overall agreement is Rex should not be here next year; now, how Mike handles this situation will determine how good the team will be next year...
I think we're beyond the point of trading. Trade deadline has passed and Flynn's a UFA at the end of the season. Only thing we're getting for him is a compensatory pick.

Why are you people obsessed with Matt Flynn? He's the definition of mediocre. Hasn't done a thing in the NFL, poor NFL prospect, mediocre physical attributes. The Hell do you want him for?

I'm kinda curious what you actually know about him other than the fact that he's currently a backup QB.

In looking at the offense, the Redskins need wide receivers. Bad. It seemed that the trade for Jabar Gaffney was an excellent, but while he hasn't been a total slouch, Gaffney has provided decent production that could be better. It doesn't matter if Bruce Allen gets Matt Flynn or not, the Redskins need some receivers. When was the last time the Redskins had two wideouts catch passes for over 1,000 yards in a season? Michael Westbrook and Albert Connell back in 1999. That's so long ago. The problem with the offense is the lack of explosion of a number 2 receiver behind Moss.

What do I need to know? When he's played in the NFL he's been bad. He's 6-2 220 LBs, nothing out of the ordinary. 7th round pick with mediocre arm strength. What am I missing here? He's nothing. The guy didn't even have good college stats, he had a 56% completion on a championship team.

I doubt it seriously. I don't think we will show interest.

If we cannot get the Bears to cut loose Cutler, we'll be drafting our QB of the future and likely trading up to do so IMO.

He has one NFL start (which means only one game in which he's gotten to practice with the 1st-team players and get a rhythm going with them), in which he had a 64.9 completion percentage, 6.8 yards per attempt, 3 TDs, and a QB rating of 100.2. And that wasn't against a team of scrubs, either. It was against the New England Patriots.

The Patriots defense is mediocre and the Packers have all-pro level talent around him and a great coaching staff. Means absolutely nothing. His cumulative numbers are poor and there is no reason to assume he can be a quality starting quarterback in the NFL.

I'm just showing that he has indeed shown something. What that will translate to as a team's full time starter? I don't know.

This thread title is bothering me more than the content of the thread itself...

Agreed this is the best time in probably the last 20+ years to draft a QB because with the rookie wage scale within a week after drafting a QB you can have them signed and participating in off season workout and now hold out. If Luck does come out it will push all the rest of the QBs down further in the draft. Imagine if Luck would have come out last year that would have made Cam Newton be the 2nd or 3rd QB taken probably pushing Ponder down to the 2nd round and Dalton even further down.

NO MATT FLYNN!!! If Shanny can't find a QB he likes in this upcoming draft then I doubt he'll ever really find one in his 5 year plan.

We will need to get used to either Beck or Grossman for a minimum of 1 year from end of the season. Everyone has said it takes 2 years to learn this offense and from the sounds of things you don't want to put your rookie QB in there to get boo'ed every week and get destroyed like patrick ramsey.
