I'm really not understanding the "Bush's third term" thing either . . .

No kidding. Remind me when Obama proposes tax breaks for millionaires while advocating another full scale invasion in the Middle East.
The scariest thing I got out of the RNC was that they seem to be ready to invade Iran. I think they've really lost their minds.
The idea of entering another full scale war should make every American (D or R) cringe.

You mean congress...
Obama hasn't been able to change anything lately. When 60 votes becomes required for the first time in history to pass ANYTHING in the senate, it makes things kind of difficult. If only one party is serious about governing, government comes to a standstill.
I'm not trying to come off like some sort of Obama sheep or anything - there have certainly been areas where he has disappointed me.
However, I'm really not sure what candidate you think is ever going to come in and completely change/throw out all major policies of the former President.

Nope, I meant the President's policies specifically. He hold mostly the same general policy positions as Bush did.
I dont want to pollute the Mitt thread with this topic though, it was mainly to explain SHF's statement on Bush 3rd term because some seemed to not understand. Thats all I'll say on it.
Conservatives cant trust Republicans
So just so I am clear and understand:
When a Republican is President, anything that happens during his administration is his fault. When a Democrat is President, anything that happens during his administration that doesn't make him look good is the fault of either the previous administration or an obstructionist Congress?
Pure partisan crap. And it stinks.

Well, that certainly wasn't expressed when Bush inherited the dot-com bubble burst from the Clinton admin. That was all on Bush. As was 9/11 and the economic crisis that followed. And the banking crisis that started in the lat 1970's. The saying is, "the buck stops here" Good or bad, when you are President and something good or bad happens, you own it. If you are going to own killing Bin Laden and "saving" GM, you also own 8%+ unemployment and $1T+ added to the deficit every year, and only creating 375K net jobs. You can't take credit for the first 2 and blame the negatives on Bush/Congress.

Is that what I said? I'm not really sure how you managed to translate that from my post.
My point was that there have been plenty of distinct differences in the Obama presidency - the positive/negatives of those can and have been argued to death - but expecting a complete overhaul of every major policy while trying to maintain some level of bipartisanship (haha) is a bit extreme IMHO.
But hey, I guess it's easier to create your own meaning when reading my posts.
EDIT: When did I say he doesn't own those? I'm very confused. I probably even disagree with SnyderShrugged and SHF about policies they think Obama should have abandoned that he didn't - I don't think all of Bush's policies were bad. My point was that I still don't buy the "Bush's third term" stuff - not saying it's been better or worse - just think it's a somewhat silly comparison.

Eastwood: "It's never a good idea for attorneys to be president."
You mean like that jackass Abraham Lincoln?
Good job GOP. After a week in Florida, you have now dispelled the idea that you aren't the party of angry old white people.

I'm in a cranky mood this morning. I may have misinterpreted your post because and apologize if I did. The coverage of the RNC was complete crap, and it pissed me off. I don't like Romney, and most likely will not vote for him (either O or a third party candidate), but watching the outright disdain from the talking heads on NBC, ABC & CBS and the partisan replies to EVERYTHING (I'm looking at you Andrea Mitchell -- you dumbfounded Brian Williams and had him stuttering to comeercial).
