would you prefer a cut and paste outlining LBJ and co. making a shift to the left?
The fact Nixon had other issues to deal with(like Vietnam/riots) and was unable or unwilling to expend political capital in reverting it BACK to center should not be seen as a acceptance.

but anyone versed in history already knows that

IIRC, it's pretty well accepted that plenty of former Republican Presidents (Eisenhower, etc.) would probably be kicked out of the Republican Party nowadays because their platforms were so much to the left of the current GOP's.

But, don't you understand? The GOP is just trying to restore things to where they ought to me.

(Which, near as I can tell, means Hoover. If not Grant.)

plenty is a reach, and we tend to be tolerant of our socialistic military leaders...just look at the support some present ones have)

To Republican supporters- I won't say Romney supporters, since there are none. Do you feel after the conventions that Romney is on a path to victory and the Repubs gain full control of the congress?

I'm am a Romney supporter and yes the campaign is on the right path, but it may not be enough to win. Three months ago I was fairly certain that Obama would be re-elected. Now I think Romney may have a chance to pull off the upset.

I see it exactly opposite. A couple of months ago, I thought Governor Romney had a chance. But after the pick of Congressman Ryan, & after their convention (watched it all), I thought they were going bland. Then came the DNC, and I saw the difference in enthusiasm for the two candidates. Governor Romney's surrogates tried to keep from even mentioning his name. President Obama's surrogates couldn't talk enough about what a steady, decisive leader he's been.
Still, the suppression of voters could swing it for the Republicans. (Once again, they have to play dirty to win/steal yet another election because we the people will not accept their nutty platform of ideas.)

Sorry, it was fun for awhile but a week ago I told myself that when the conventions were over....I was done. It was already a little overplayed. So, I kept it simple and respectful to both candidates.

Honestly, I think he has a chance as well. A small chance but a chance nontheless.

Unfortunately for Romney, he doesn't have as many scenarios to get to 270 as President Obama does.
